Far Cry 3 Thread

It is a fun game - but so far it's also pretty easy.

Even on the hardest difficulty it is easy. Not trying to boast but it is.

My load out was MS16 which I changed for the FAMAS silenced. MP5 silenced, Bow and Silenced sniper rifle. I don't see any point in not using silenced weapons.

Also I think it you keep uplay open, then Steam thinks you're still playing the game :p

I did think it was odd how I've clocked up so much time.

If you're being eaten a lot then you haven't worked on health and healing skill enough. With a good loadout and the right skill unlocks, you are an army onto yourself.

I do wish the pirates would try to reclaim outposts, especially near zones where their presence is high.

I wish the locals + pirates would put up a bit more of a fight with each other. The number of times I've heard gun fire in the distance, gone to investigate and found some locals fighting pirates, while both groups get decimated by some wildlife is unreal. Those big flightless birds murderise them all

The respawning of outposts was one of the worst things about FC2, I like the idea of dynamic control of points of the map but I'm not sure how that would be possible without annoying nearly every player

Just came across my first "Heavy" in a camp. He took a bit of shooting!! Gave up in the end and just launched 4 molotov cocktails at his face. :)

Just so happens just before hand I had swapped out my LMG for a SMG - not a clever idea.

I like to shoot them in their weak spot which is the exposed part of their head (the back) One sniper round and they drop. Of course you have to hide and let them go into search mode :)

What settings is everyone with a 7850 running at?

Just got a OC MSI 7850 2GB and put everything to max (put post FX to low as iirc people said it impacted FPS a lot with no noticeable impact for graphics) @1080 and it runs sooooo smooth. Not sure about the SSAO setting etc. though??? What have you all got it set to?

Racked up about 5 hours since buying this last night, which is saying something for me. Games usually get about 4-5 hours play in total before I never play them again. I wasn't sure at first but I'm really liking the game, the best part for me is that the gunplay feels really spot on.

Easy? I've never been killed by so many animals.

Damn right, and I mean in real life... almost.

Having a quiet midnight swim when suddenly OHMYFREAKINGGAWDTHATSASHARKONMYARM

Or setting up for a head shot with my silenced sniper when suddenly - Tiger gnawing on my leg.

Completed this a few days after it came out, having another crack at it but trying to get all the relics, letters, radio towers and outposts.

My loadout is solely signature weapons - shredder, bull, ripper and AMR :)

The shark attacks are make you jump for sure, especially when deep diving  As for the furry land animals, do you have ears? They all make a racket

I've had 2 croc attacks, both unexpected (just walking out of a river, where I saw no croc), and both scared the living daylights out of me... :o

Ah yes, you're right. I'm now on 7 hours even though I haven't been playing it! haha

Regarding the sharks I found a good tactic was to go out in a boat use an animal scent syringe and just shoot them from the deck with a normal gun (or clamber up onto rocks in the shallows - can be quite fiddly finding the right place where you can stand!). Only problem is in deep water it can make finding the corpse difficult.

Should I be getting better performance?

I'm running the game at 1680*1050 on mostly highest settings (Ultra I think) and only 2xAA, it gets choppy in some places where the view is very far into the distance but a part from that is smooth, want to use my other monitor with 1080P res though.
