Far Cry 3 Thread

Anyone else find themselves making mini games out of the main one? Theres a .dll file you can get that resets all the bases so that they are handed back to the pirates. I find endless replay value out of attacking differently. Isnt it a huge kick to stealth kill the pirates with boom headshot and no alarms :D

Wow, I just reinstalled Far Cry 3 after doing a fresh Windows reinstall, got the latest nvidia drivers for my GTX670 and my god, I was shocked at how much smoother the game is since my first play through at release.

At release I had to tweak all the settings to get a smooth game but now I can put everything on max and it runs fine. Theres obviously been some bug fixing, tweaking etc by both Ubisoft and Nvidia.

Well chuffed, just have to see how Crysis 3 runs now, fingers crossed.

Same here! Started playing again last night and my FPS has been bumped up by atleast 20 and the game is so much smoother now. Can finally have it at ultra and fully enjoy it :):):)

Hey..doesnt this location in FC3 remind you a bit of S.T.A.L.K.E.R SSOC? :D

Wotcha folks,

finally finished this last night.

SPOILERS below
I finished the first island after picking everything there clean (in fact I cleared all the safe houses/radio towers before even unlocking the additional skills.

The second island I pretty much did the minimum to unlock 'freeplay' (in my spiffy new mercenary suit) and then rampaged around like a madman claiming bases, capping dudes and doing side quests.

Eventually followed the plot missions through to the end. Chose the 'save your chums' option. Bit of an abrupt end but not that bad. Frankly it felt a bit rushed, if anything. I'd have preferred to learn more about the fate of the islanders, among other things. Watched the other ending on the you tubes. Was a bit cack, with token boobies and a rather nonsensical 'shock' twist. Didn't particularly like either one.

Only side quest I think I missed/didn't do is the
poker-playing one, because when I got it I'd just spent my entire 10,000 dollar fortune on custom gun colours and didn't have enough for the ante
- anyone mind telling me if I missed much?

For anyone annoyed by the "get the same phonecall after every side mission" thing by the way, there are certain points in the main quest where the advice text switches from "go do this" to "explore the island, or go do this". Those ones don't have a phonecall, so will save your sanity a bit if you take your side quests at that point.

I cant even run the game. Loads in to the menu system no problem, I can change all the settings etc, but then when I try to load a new game it lets me pick difficulty, begins to load, and crashes.

I think I am going to have to reinstall it. Which wouldn't normally be a problem, but Ubisofts servers took 20+ hours for me to download this the first time round. ARGH.

Overclocked your gfx card by any chance? I got this even if I changed my stock speeds slightly.

Just noticed on the steam update news that Far Cry 3 will soon be getting a patch which provides a harder difficulty as well as the option of resetting outposts when the game is complete.

Could even be the patch I'm updating now.

It is the patch with the reset outpost option, I just downloaded it but can't find the reset outpost option:confused:

It's apparently in the game options menu after you conquer all outposts and complete the story.

It's probably because I already reactivated the outposts a while back using a simple dll. mod, the mod works fine but the map remains fogged out as though no radio towers have been activated even though they have.

Hey I also I have that .dll to reset the outposts. Does yours still work with the latest 1.05 patch?

yes, works fine as usual, I guess the option to reset the outposts in the new patch won't work if you have altered the dlls presumably, although I have completed the game with final achievement etc the patch doesn't recognise it because some outposts are still as yet uncaptured. I wonder if when I recapture the last one it will trigger the option to reset ? The only difference with the patch version will presumably be the map working properly rather than being greyed out & just showing the outposts & safe houses

I'm getting considerably longer loading times when using the fast-travel option between outposts following this latest patch.

Anybody else experiencing similar?

Haven't noticed it.

I'm planning to attempt a second playthrough - aside from the "turn off the cartoon HUD elements" tweak, is there another mod/collection people recommend?

Looking at the nexus site (which is horrible to navigate, unless I'm doing it wrong) there are a lot of 'collections' that get good ratings, but are named after the creator/collector, and the 'changes list' in each readme is mostly just a list of other mods, often also of the "username's weapons 2.5b" type, and I don't have the time or urge to repeatedly try lots of them out, so have come begging for recommendations.

I'm at one of these point right now and I can tell you that you still get the phonecall every single time.

I've completed the game, got all outposts, downloaded the new patch but cant see any options anywhere to reset outposts, am I missing something?

Just me being thick. You have to be in the game, hit esc and then options.:D

Awesome. Clearing the outposts was the best bit of this game. Really looking forward to doing it again. Is there a higher difficulty in this new patch too?

Beware pirates, my silenced .50 cal is coming for you!

Grrr the uplay programme is ****!!!!!!

I have a 120Mbit connection, yet it chooses to download FC3 at 250kb/s!

Usually hit 9-10mb/s on steam, but this uplay crap is just taking the ****.
