Far Cry 3 Thread

This was the first game I bought (well, second after DCS: Warthog) after I managed to get my wife to agree to PC upgrades, lol.

Loving it so far, the bow and sniper rifles are my weapons of choice. Still get mauled by tigers more than I would like though.

Loving it so far, wondering why it took so long for me to pick it up!

I've found Assault Rifles a LOT better for taking out animals compares to a bow/sniper. Tigers would kill me very quickly despite 3-4 sniper bullets to the face!

Also, Vs the armoured heavy weapons troopers, until you get the 'kill a heavy' melee attack, a single fire arrow is by far the best way to dispatch them I think.

C4 or grenade launcher is the easiest.

The fact they just walk in straight line means all all you have to do is toss the C4 dive for cover and set it off and it kills them instantly .

Grenade launcher will one shot them as well.

Late to the party as I got this last week. Free-roam hunting is fun, but not progressing much with the story as got a horrible issue with lagging cutscenes.

Got a stock AMD 6950, updated drivers, disabled PostFX - occurs in DX11 or 9. The sound works in the cutscenes, but the 'video' stalls, then goes mental fast, stalls rinse and repeat until the end.

Free roaming is fine, it's just the cutscenes not playing properly. Any ideas?

Picked this game up a couple of days ago really enjoying it,it plays lovely and smooth all the animations work well.
Hardly done any of the game just been free roaming and killing animals to create things have most items upto the point of having to do the hunters challenge to get the ingredients to do the what I presume the final level of crafting.
Can't wait to start taking down bases and do the missions this will be a game I will 100%
Loving the bow and stealth works really well in this game but the guns and explosions are awesome and handle and sound really good.

Any tips?

Some of the bases are harder than others, particularly the ones guarded by the armoured heavy dudes who won't go down easily, I found one way was to drive a vehicle straight at them & then drive out the other end of the base & round again. And set mines on the approach roads to stop the reinforcements arriving,
My second most popular weapon after the sniper was the grenade launcher, never bothered with the flamethrower as you have bottles to throw that do the same thing.

Silently shoot the cages with your arrows or silenced sniper to release the tiger, bears etc & watch them kill half the camp :D

When you start on the bases be sure to take out the alarms. If you can sneak up to an alarm without being seen and deactivate it takes out all the alarms in one. Personally I liked to sniper the alarms individually. Also hit the cage with the animal in it and it gets released, it then runs riot and takes out a lot of the enemy before being killed.

I have finally finished this game and have to save overall I found it fantastic. I liked the ending (I choose the good/ethical ending). Good atmospheric music too. I opted to return to the island but actually I have already unlocked the entire island and took over all bases so might just restart the game from the beginning in the future and try more weapons - I ended up using the same weapons for probably half of the game.

Roll on FarCry 4. In my opinion they really made a great game with FarCry 3.

Hi guys,

I have just bought a retail copy of this which I'm assuming will be non-Steam activated? - please feel free to correct me if I am wrong :) Anyway, I was wondering if I would be able to buy and use the DLC on Steam and use it with this?

Thanks.

Still requires Steam activation & on several occassions with various games I've had using DVD versions it sometimes starts to download the game as well if your not careful

When you reinstalled Far Cry 3 did you remove all the hidden folders/profile stuff? There might not be a problem with the actual game files but the profile stuff might be corrupt?

Have you tried running the Far Cry 3 executable directly and not via the shortcut?
