Far Cry 360 vs Far Cry PC video comparison...WOW

It is a silly comparison. Its not due to the 360 being mega awesome that it looks better, its because the updated the game :|.

Heh... surely a contradiction in terms... the xbox 360 being more powerful allowed them to update the game and achieve reasonable performance with the extras.

If the 360 was not "mega awesome" they wouldnt have been able to update the game.

the wave looks ace on the xbox but everything else in the background looks a bit blurred compared to the PC version, or am I imagining things?
Maybe it's depth of field like in condemned.

yes comparing games that will be released over 2 years apart.

and lets not forget that the development team has had 2 more years of experience with the engine.

Why £280 you can plug a core in for £209 and do the same so really its £209.

Get it from boots and get the online discount vouchers and points you can get a core for about £173... I did. (when in stock of course)

Premium in office.. core in living room now.

Loving it. Still feel guilty about abanding PC gaming... but 360 is just so sweet.

The thing is, Far Cry on the PC still gets compared to every new PC shooter...

That's fair enough though, because you should be able to compare a new game to a two year old game and see a noticeable improvement in graphics - especially on the PC platform where hardware has moved on in that period. If a new game is no better looking, or worse, than a two year old game then there's a problem.

I don't think it's a particularly useful comparison, but those waves still look amazing.

The xbox live setup will be great as you can create maps and share them over xbox live for others to play on. :D

Its a lovely effect, but if you look at the video closer, especially at the first 360 footage where he's holding the knife, as the camera pans round the ripples only seem to be visible for a few meters or so, after that it all looks suddenly flat, just seems a bit unnatural. Look closely and you'll see what I mean. On the other hand the ripple effect on the PC version looks visible as far out as you can see. Maybe i'm just nit-picking :) Still the effect is impressive.

PC minimum detail by the looks of it, look at the state of the gun.

The 360 version looks blurry, screams of SD in those pictures. It looks okay, I am not blown away. I actually prefer the look of the water on the PC version.

From what I saw of FCI on the Xbox at my friends it doesn't look THAT much better.

It always looked nice, but I finished this 2 years ago :-/

Want to play NEW games on the 360.....

A flash new console with the best hardware available should have the NEW ORIGINAL cutting edge games.... right?

It is a new game entirely on the FarCry world. It's not the same story or places.

That is what it should look like on a PC, the 360 version (whether a new game or not) does look better but it is 2 years later.

Excuse the crappy jpeg compression (paint)

Well I dont know if it is or not but in the video the guy does go to the options menu and select all the highest options. But still it could be low detail I guess.

I'm more interested in playing Far Cry at a solid 60 fps (which is apparently the case on the 360 version). Even on the most mighty pcs the frame rate drops into the 40's during combat, and it makes my eyes bleed :(

If the framerate really is that smooth, this is going to look staggeringly good on a decent hdtv.

Maybe you need to lower the settings? Try running it at 1280x720, should be a fairer comparison with the 360 :p
