Far Cry 4 - Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Could still be the cards or another HW causing it.

Very doubtful its the hardware as this really has been disproven. Look at the facts. No crashes with 347.88. Crashes with 350.12. Other people reporting same problem. Only happening in Far Cry 4.

Whats your conclusion.

All you need to do to recover is alt tab to the desktop, bring up task manager and end task on FC4, not sure why DragonRR needs to do a hard reset as this way works everytime.

Neither am I! It may be a different problem of course but it sounds very similar.

Just for completeness I'm not running an Overclock of the Titan at all.

I very much doubt this is hardware because nothing else has locked up or crashed but there could be something FC4 does that just highlights a fault. There doesn't seem to be any particular time the crash happens. I've had at least a couple when I've been facing a flat wall and only one has happened in the middle of any significant action.

Hey guys. Little update. I run memtest and shows 34 errors after 5 minutes. It can be problem then with memory with display crashing? ( TDR )? Display crashing ( TDR ) can be caused by memory then?

Also today i am buying new memory set.

RAM memory faults can cause almost anything to happen. Usually blue screen crashes but generally your system will be unstable.

Guys. I resolved issue with TDR crash in FC4. I bought new memory set. Now its working no crashes ok with 350.12 WHQL drivers.:)
My previous memory set was giving random errors in memtest so i am thinking thats why i had tdr crashes.

Check your memory in memtest i suggest.

I bought that one:
HyperX 2x4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM Plug n Play (KHX1600C9D3P1K2/8G)

Crashes started again last night. I finally got fed up of the crashes with 350.12 so went back to the 344 FC4 Game Ready drivers and no more crashes.

Little update. TDR crash with FC64.dll is back even with new rams. 5 days i was testing without single crash. Today TDR's back even with new ram. So all of my hope that was ram issue is gone. Now with new ram the same TDR crashing.
Card is Asus Strix 980 and my previous rams was 2x4gb corsair vengeance 1333mhz , new ram are Kingston Hyperx 2x4gb 1600mhz 1.5v.

And till today i get my first TDR crash with new rams:( App stopped, FC64.dll, and minidump file in watchdog folder reporting that nvldkmm crashed. Is my pc not stable or is this a game issue ?
I am using 350.12 WHQL.

Psu is COrsair 750 RM and cpu on stock 4790k. So that was not ram. On new rams TDR crashing back. But 5 days i was dont get single crash. Strange, huh, but why TDR started today ?!Anyway, issue is still on my pc on Far Cry 4. EHhh :( <sad>

I tried alsorts, different drivers, changing the config etc etc etc. I finally stopped it from crashing however I did three things so it could be any one of these.

(350.12 drivers)

1. Deleted the gamerprofile.xml from here \Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4\3ac555d5-b79e-4d7b-bbfa-e2d03ba1965f (your code might be different).
2. Set antiscopic filtering to 16x for farcry4.exe in nvidia contol panel
3. Right clicked the FC4 shortcut and set to run as administrator

Somehow the above 3 or one of them stopped it from crashing. Not had a crash since my last post of 22/4/2015 and I've now completed the campaign.

Go to first new post Far Cry 4 -One crash Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Hello. I have a question about TDR crashing in Far Cry 4 again. Its my second topic here but i am little confused.
Listen.
I switch my memory from Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1333mhz to Kingston Hyperx 2x4gb 1600mhz and my TDR ( Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered ) crashing in Far Cry 4 almost gone. I mean with my new memory i was get only one single TDR crash of 70 hours of play. Is this reason to worry ?Should i be worried of one TDR crash of 70 hours of being in game?

I am using Asus Strix 980 stock OC, 4790k stock, new memory Kingston Hyperx 2x4gb 1600mhz, Corsair 750 RM

Which drivers are you using? The latest drivers are extremely unstable for me and a lot of other people.

What was wrong with the original thread, or one of the few you have started on this same issue on a certain other forum?

You have been told countless times that yes, crashes happen sometimes and no, it's not something to worry about ESPECIALLY as you are only ever experiencing it in ONE game.

Why do you keep asking if no amount of reasoning will convince you?

Lastly and most importantly, would you admit to being a troll even if you indeed were one?

I just ask. Sorry for trouble. Because with new memory i get only 1 crash TDR ( Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered ) of 70 hours of play. With previous memory ,crashing was often. So thats why i ask you here again.:)
Also i am using 350.12 WHQL drivers if thats help.
And this is not simple crash . This is TDR crasH ( Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered ).

Edit , nvm today next crash .
Guys explain me. I am in big hole now. Sometimes i can play Far Cry 4 12-24 hours without single TDR ( nvlddmkm ) crash. But in next day game can crash with TDR ( nvlddmkm ) after 10 minutes. Is this related to my card or what?

Think it's related to software either being driver or the game itself or a bit of both.
I was getting black screens quite often in FC4 but no error as you seem to be getting. In fact I was unable to progress much further as it would black screen. However, with the latest driver I have managed to get further. It might be just a coincidence or might be that the latest driver has helped(352.86). So first thing for you to try is the latest driver.

Have you tried down clocking the factory overclock on your card? I would be willing to bet that is the issue. A lot of modern games seem to be showing up shoddy factory overclocks these days.

I see you have said you don't want to do this but surely you can test it? Reduce it by 100mhz on the core. See if it crashes, if it doesn't after weeks of testing then send the card back for a new one.

No other games crash. I play crysis 3, watch dogs, witcher 3 , metro , unigine heaven , 3dmark . No crashing. Only Far Cry 4 is crashing occasionally TDR with drivers above 344.75 WHQL.

Doesn't matter. I could play loads of games, loop heaven for ever with my 980 overclocked to boost to 1500mhz at stock volts. However, GTA V came out and bamn - driver crash. Dropped it to 1450mhz and no more crashes in GTA V. Then the Witcher 3 comes out...bamn - driver crash so i guess i will have to dial down the overclock some more.

Far Cry 4 might just be doing something in the card that highlights it's instability. I bet if you used 344.75 WHQL enough it would crash eventually using those as well.

I played Far Cry 4 with 344.75 WHQL many hours and days without single crash TDR. On that drivers 344.75 WHQL i dont had any single crash. On all above 344.75 WHQL drivers Far Cr 4 is crashing randomly TDR.Somebody said:"Because it's one game that shows the card isn't stable". So its time to RMA my card because its unstable just in Far Cry 4? I am mad . They selling unstable card.
