Far Cry is going Post Apocalyptic (Far Cry 6)

What on earth is the point of perks? I am only halfway through the game and got every perk going yet still getting lots of perk points which are of no use.

will i really struggle if i didn't play 5?

You won't struggle as such but it is based off 5 so it's worth looking up at least. It's like jumping into season 2 of Game of Thrones when you've not seen the first, you can catch up but there'll be a few 'eh, what just happened' moments.'

Asked and answered several times before, you will be better off playing FC5 before playing New Dawn which uses locations, lore and people from FC5 which will mean nothing to you otherwise. It's not just the storyline either (which isn't great) but a lot of the places you stumble across whilst exploring will be familiar though greatly changed, notes left behind by their former occupants will be meaningful, and bumping into aged versions of familiar faces
and meeting & fighting alongside the unborn child you helped save
, all add to the experience of the game. Personally I don't think reading about an event or location will give you the same experience as having 'lived through' them but it may help. However it's a stand alone game so has no actual requirements for you to have played FC5 in order to play through it, you can still enjoy the bread and butter of a Far Cry game but you'll be missing out the filling to make a sandwich.

Just finished it and it was a struggle to do so. The game started off so well and i looked forward to returning to it each daybut then I realised how little there was to do compared to other Far Cry games and how repetitive it had became.

I can see no replay value whatsoever.

On to Metro.

Thanks the reply pie eater, but I’ve got young kids and don’t have much spare time hence the desire for clarity which you’ve now provided.

Yep bargain bin or sales time

Completed this the other day - has to be one of the shortest games i've played.

The missions were all really dull and there were only a handful of them to begin with!

Seemed like a DLC for FC5

I found plenty to occupy me, maxing out perks, doing all the excursions, upgrading the base etc.
Same here ~20 hours to complete, then another ~14 hours playing through again without all the assists just 3 starring all the bases and away missions ignoring most of the story quests. It's a different game if you have all the assists off, you need to be much more aware of your surroundings and use cover a lot, Grandma was great for base clearing as I could remain in cover and spot for her and she would pick off enemies, Horatio was great for the excursions especially when leveled all the way up he'd bulldoze through most of the enemies that chase you once you have the package.

I really don't get the FC5 DLC comparison at all.

Just finished it last night, i enjoyed it although it felt like it was over quick, i maxed out all the bases and excursions and it still felt short

I've been enjoying New Dawn and lot more than FC5. It's not clever or complex, it's just boiled down to the core Far Cry game loop of taking down outposts. No stupid resistance meter dragging me off into cutscenes without asking, or overly drawn out narrative.

Just go where you want, when you want, and blow **** up. With a doggo. Win.

The takedowns are pretty savage though, I don't remember being quite so...visceral...in previous games..makes me wince a bit seeing people getting stabbed in the throat with a pair of scissors.
