Far Cry

1.4 and 1.41 aren't compatible with Farcry X64.
1.33 is the latest patch that works with the 64bit content

I was under the impression that (at least some of) the enhanced content would still work even when running the later patches. I know there is no native 64bit exe for versions after 1.32 (that included in the 64bit patch) but I didn't think this was relevant.

I can't get get this to install in vista :( It erors on the setup file saying: "1628: Failed to Complete Installation" Any ideas? It used to work perfect in XP :(

doesn't the 1.4 patch introduce the rather annoying feature/bug of being able to shoot (and be shot) through walls? Seem to remember reading that it was brought in as a multiplayer tweak but ended up getting left in the single player as well and never being removed by Crytek.

Very annoying to hide behind a wall or boulder for cover and then still die, I'm sure you'll agree.
Yeah we blew it, the idea was to allow bullets to pass through wooden or canvas structures, but unfortunately the game also used the same parameter to calculate occlusions.

We missed its effect in SP, as did Cryteks and UBIs QA...
Its only the huts and tents that are affected, cower behind your rock and your safe ;)

@HangTime: 1.4 also changed the crygame.dll to remove access to CVARs that people were using as MP cheats, I'm not sure that the 64 bit binary can access the 1.4 DLL? Cant recall ever trying it...

The official way to patch Far Cry is to:
Install
Patch to 64
Add 64 Bit ECU
Add remaining patches up to the point you want to stop (1.33 for SP, 1.4 for MP)

Some more tips, walkthroughs and resources are available on the official forums

@jonislost: See if this helps for the 1628 error.

If it doesnt, there is an issue with the installer on some discs and 64 bit OS.
Only proven way to get around that is to copy a clean installation over from a 32 bit machine, then apply patch 1.3.
This fixes the registry.
Other patches can be added as required at that point.
