FarCry 4 bad framerate on 290x

This smacks of watchdogs, point the finger at nvidia for poor amd performance when nvidia was affected just the same. No-one has learnt from that.... in this thread there's very similar comments made.

Where?
Everyone I know or have seen report issue are getting the same on Both AMD and Nvidia.. Who said this is because of Nvidia?
To me the Nvidia tech in this game is working very well, its a performance issue from the games engine making the game stutter.

It stutters even with everything set to low or off.

Only one I see is txaa everything else I can select.

Fur,trees,HBAO+,god rays and txaa. Selection may be possible but I couldnt tell you if they actually work or not. Links underneath with all the Nvidia effects:-

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/far-cry-4-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide

I turned off AA,fur and motion blur and maxed everything else with one 780 @1200mhz @1400p and apart from a little stutter now and again its running pretty well. Compared to what I was expecting....VERY well! It hovers around the 50fps mark most of the time with drops into high thirtys/low forties which is understandable.

It helps I love the game and Im that into it when Im playing that I hardly notice the stutters.

I can confirm there all working on AMD apart from TXAA.

Is it christmas already or did you get the game early?

Got it early, she always lets me pick any game coming out towards the year. and FC4 is really the only game on offer.. Had GTA5 on PC released other day it would have been that.

GTA5 on PS4 was her little xmas gift. We adults not kids who after wait till xmas day :p unless you still believe in all that?

Not sure what your getting at ;)

I wonder what Santa will bring me on christmas day!

I wonder if Santa is working with AMD to release the 390 on christmas day.

Anyway when FC4 is fixed a bit more i will buy it, and hopefuly it will be 1/2 price.

How can you tell?

You would need to look at above then set your Preset to Ultra then go into each setting and make changes which would then make your preset change to "Custom".

I do not see how you can know what the Nvidia settings are and if they really are one up from Ultra.

You said you have God Particles the other day, that is only the menu, what can you actually set it to Ultra or higher again to Soft Shadows (AFAIR that the tag)?

nope there are around 4-5 settings that change to more advanced settings when selecting nvidia setting i've checked this from going from ultra and nvidia.

So no amd users can't get these.

Apart from shanky who says he can get them all bar TXAA which he thinks is blurry and poor going by another thread he posted in.

You be wrong! all the Nvidia setting does is switch on the Nvidia naming settings. On AMD you can select the all apart from TXAA.. Go and see my setting I posted above.

Here are my screenshots showing all the settings I can get.

Like shankly, only TXAA doesn't show

The new driver for me only gave me about a 3fps boost lol.
Really need that crossfire profile before I play through this properly as it just spoils it at 40fps when I could be getting nearly double that with crossfire.

I played around with the game for a few hours today, so I can release a benchmark probably in 1 or 2 days (fingers crossed).

Observations

1. The Nvidia Preset is going to get you VRAM limited at 4K with a 4GB card. Its basically everything kranked up higher than Ultra (HBAO+, some super AA setting can't remember which one). Shadows and textures look better but it has the strange washed out effect and is very blurry when moving around.

2. CPU spikes and 100% load happen only on one core @ 1080p and 1440p (Of what I have observed, will get deeper into this in my benchmark analysis).

3. Edit : Happens at 4K aswell

4. With a SLI GTX970 setup @ 4K Ultra I was between 35fps-45fps (cant remember exact numbers as I wasn't benching) not bad I would say.

5. SLI somehow causes this ghost effect, I'm not sure if its got to do with the Ultra preset but if you move your mouse slowly around 1 frame moves into the next. I don't think I noticed this with the single 970.

Will test on AMD tomorrow and will tell you guys what I think.
