Farcry 4 Hurry up !!

One of the Kyrat Fasion Week missions made me smile last night...

...the Honey Badger one, asking you multiple times if you are sure you want to go ahead with it, then it's "lair" looking like something from Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the rabbit, scattered with bones and rhino/tiger corpses :p

Luckily I had just unlocked the Buzzsaw so it went down in 0.2 seconds!

Is anyone else getting a weird bug whereby you appear to be pressing buttons that you're not actually pressing. E.g., your weapon wheel popping up without actually having pressed L1, or when you go to the map it starts moving around on its own?

I'm thinking its either this game or my controller is breaking.

Haha yes, that one did make me chuckle. There are constant references to that mighty beast throughout the game too :)

I've put about 70 hours into this and done most of the achievements and completed the main game - just one final fortress to go. I've loved this and glad that the main story didn't go all weird like FC3 did.

Just gone to have a play and the game just sits there at the logging in screen!

Sorted but had to turn off Internet connection. Must have something to do with the hacking.

Just started this today. Not sure what to make of it yet. Had some fun but also had some frustration. How many arrows does a freaking badger take!? And then it kills me in a couple of bites. Argh

Well after finishing the main campaign and a lot of the side missions. Weird thing is that I keep getting radio messages from pagan min! Even though, well, you know. Same for sabal someone was talking to me about him but he wasn't about.

Also as amita was now the head of the golden path I went to one place and she was taking children to fight. Do little bits like that continue? Is there a bit more story?

Brilliant game its swallowed hours of my life lol. I've been to Nepal & India many times and while there picked up a bit of Hindi from the locals so this game really put a grin on my face. It has some seriously offensive Hindi cusses in there! The voice acting is top notch and the Far Cry baddies always have character. I feel sad when I slot one of them even haha!

One thing baffles me though and that is the complete lack of control over some major game elements that are huge immersion-killers and ruin the game. In a nutshell, I wish they had given us menu options to disable:

-ridiculous laser beams from enermy sniper rifles
-flashing plants
-flashing bodies
-onscreen prompts to press buttons (L3 L3!)
-distracting & scenery-ruining HUD waypoint markers. Cant they do it like Skyrim and just have pointers on top instead of a flashing letter on a hill?
-funny noises when you raise a weapon, come up on a flashing plant, a body..you know the sound
-Silly x-ray vision that the camera/binoculars give after it has "tagged". I avoid using this.

Im not saying get rid of them - im saying I wish we had a choice because Im sure other players like these features. Just let us turn em on and off Ubisoft!

I played FC3 on the PC and there are some great mods that strip away all those things making for a cleaner, tougher game.

^^Nice lol. Recurve bow is just sublime in this game.

I am done with the main story, towers, outposts and fortresses etc. I have discovered and collected everything in the south but I don't know if I cba to finish the north. Maybe this weekend I'll mop everything else up...just remembered that I also have 2 Shangri-La areas to do...so, yeah I think I'll finish it off.

Cheers :)

Yeah not sure how bothered I'll be to collect everything, I like to do a fair amount of side stuff and collectibles in games, but I can never be bothered to do it all.

I've only done a few main missions so far though, so just focussing on side stuff for now.

Been playing this for a while now. Taken all outposts, towers and forts. Done the Shrangi-La missions too. I just have not bothered with the side quests though. Might mop them up afterwards.

But this has to be one of the most annoying 'v.v close to throwing my pad at the TV' games I have ever played! :(

One of my main bugbears are the hard to kill animals. So, Mr. Snow Leopard - a full magazine in your face from my assault rifle and you are alive. Orly? What about you Mr. Honey Badger? Two rounds from a sniper rifle in your head and you don't die? Cool story bro. But wait, 1 arrow from a bow and you die and give me double the skins???? What kind of ****ed up game mechanic is that?

Totally ridiculous.

Also, I hate how you cannot go anywhere in this game on foot without being attacked / killed by animals. Makes exploring a real chore. But I can live with that, but the random animal spawns when you are trying to take out an outpost are the most frustrating. I have done several experiments in the last couple of weeks where a random Tiger, or Bear or something has appeared to attack me as soon as I fire the first silenced sniper shot to take down an enemy. Respawn in the same place after death. Wait, wait, wait, don't shoot - no animals. Wait wait, walk around a bit looking for the animals as I am pretty sure they should be there but no animals. OOOOK, scope up and take down the first bad guy - I'm suddenly being mauled by a Bear or a Tiger!!!

FFFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I also hate how bad hit detection is in sniping. So many times my crosshairs have been bang on for a head shot, and you even see the spurt of dirt behind the enemy after firing - yet I hit nothing :( This also happens with alarm boxes. Really poor zoom levels, too, considering they are supposed to be, ya know, like long range sniper rifles and all. It just feels like they tried to totally nerf sniping because they were too lazy to design outposts that were difficult to snipe out.

Then there is the ridiculous AI spotting when taking an outpost. It goes from them not being able to see me at all to being able to see me half a mile away through trees and vegetation IMMEDIATELY (no build up in the 'spotted' bar like usual) resulting in reinforcements being called :(

Then there are the Eagles. Oh lord they **** me off more than anything. You simply cannot avoid being attacked by them unless you go everywhere in a car. Even if you hear them caw to signify they are going to attack you and you run in a zig-zag pattern and crouch slide, they still get you and do a ton of damage.

Then there is the totally insane terrain. Soooo, a gently sloped piece of land, should be easy to run up that......oh no wait, they totally broke the terrain physics =/

Oh and then there are the button press suggestions. Want to do anything with less than half health? Tough luck, you better press triangle and heal first!! What about searching dead bodies? Want to do that too? Go try it and see how many times you swap to a fallen weapon because some idiot made swap weapon and search body the same button - and made it switch quickly between the two actions if you don't get the precise angle right when looking at it!!

Oh and it has to be THE most annoying thing in the game. Leave one of your fast travel outposts, get half a mile down the road to be informed said outpost is under attack and you need to go and help, so have to turn back. FFFFFFFFOOOOOOOOOOOOOO stupid game, I have already taken down the fort in this area so this should not be happening!!!!11111

Then there are the random 'hardness' increases in enemies. You are informed a headshot from a sniper rifle will take down a heavy soldier. Yeah, thats true for a while. Until for some reason they start needing 3-5. Headshots, that is. Same rifle, same enemy. Headshots no longer work. WTF is that all about?

Oh and then there is the flying thing - a Buzzer I believe it is called which has completely random maximum altitudes. Again I have experimented with this in the same locations to find out, that yes indeed the altitude limits are random, and often designed so that you cannot take the best route to an objective, which again completely breaks the immersion and experience for me because this is a game I am supposed to be able to do my way - a free roaming title where I call the shots on how I do things.

Except it isnt. Which is annoying. Thought I would got for a stroll into the north fairly early on, get a foothold out there for the GP. Nope sorry, get some stupid warning that things be dangerous over that there bridge. Ah, I like danger, who cares and who is going to stop me? The game does, clearly, on both counts!

So all in all I am playing it because I bought it, but it has to be one of the single most annoying and badly designed games I have ever played. :(

Tune in next time when I go through the parts of the game I like........ :D
