Farming Simulator 15

Preordered a few weeks ago from GMG, got it for £18. I got enough game time out the previous one to warrant pre-ordering 15 hah.

I'm looking forward to getting plenty of flack on Steam from my mates when they see what I'm playing lol.

Played this a little bit today and its actually quite fun! Cant work out what to do with the wheat ive harvested once its been put in the storage container. How do you earn money from it? Do you have to take it somewhere from the container?

Yeah, the containers are just for storing it. You have to take it to one of the points on the map to sell it (press the "9" key to see the map and look for the trailer icons, but not everywhere will accept every crop harvested). On the Bjornholm map the Windmill and Grain Elevator seem to offer good prices for the basic crops (wheat, barley and canola (oilseed rape over here)) on my save.

The idea behind storing goods are to wait until the prices are good. To keep track of prices press the "I" key to get to the inventory screen then press the upper-right arrow once. To scroll through the prices click the arrow on the middle-right.

Sometimes you'll get "great demand" prices, where a sell-point will offer extra for a product, so if you don't need the money immediately it can be worth it to wait until the prices are good or in demand. You'll get a quick notification on the screen if a crop is in great demand.

Keep in mind that while oilseed rape sells for more, you get less yield from a field, so it's not necessarily the most profitable. Also make sure you fertilise your fields (fertiliser, sprayer or manure) as it doubles the yield, and will keep you much busier with your trailers.

My crops dont seem to grow, I have a field where 10% grew something and the rest is emptiness!

The tutorial didnt help much either, looks like I should read up on farming or something before playing any more of this game :p

I get wannbe pilots, train drivers, soldiers etc........ but farmers?

Yep, I'm in!! :D

Been looking at that fishing game too… am I getting old or something? :p

Never thought I'd see this to be honest. The game looks really good though.

Of course I realised now you need to buy a fertilising machine :D

For those who dont understand how you can play this type of game should just try it and you might be suprised. Personally I prefer the Truck Simulator ones better but they are good in there own way. My only gripe is staying interested for long enough, the games are fun to begin with but then as you play more it starts to become like regular work, a chore.

I've played 17 hours of this already, help me :(

:p

I wish someone would help me because I have no idea what I am doing and am losing the will to play :o

So my corn/wheat what ever it is grew tall and turned from green to yellow, it looks ready to harvest. So I jump in the combine harvester, unfold the top bit and turn on and drive over the corn/wheat and nothing happens

So I figure it must not be ready yet so I sit and wait and the field died/withered

This game needs to offer more help because so far I am doing nothing different to the beginning tutorial but nothing works. Half the time I dont know if I am destroying the plants I grew or like this case nothing happens

You sure you didn't plant corn (as in maize?). You can't harvest that without using the corn header (which you don't have at the start).

While you get to grips you can turn off withering in the options (escape, top-right arrow).

It might have been corn yeah :p

ok thanks well I turned withering off and at least the other plants are not rotting away. I am not sure if the other field I grew potatoes or turnips as they look the same but I noticed a potatoe harvester you can buy.

Anyway so if I buy the corn header does that just go on the front of my Harvester? Do you replace them somehow?

Yes, press "Q" to detach the existing header, buy the corn header (it will be delivered to the shop) and then drive up to it and press "Q" again. If you have the help menu on (F1 key) it will tell you when you're close enough to attach it.

Apparently any header will fit on any combine (except the Pottinger and Krone ones), but the Capello one is the one meant for the Sampo.

And yes, you'll need a potato harvester to harvest potatoes. I honestly thought "beet" was sugar beet, but apparently it means beetroot... which makes more sense in a European environment. :p

The map in the inventory menu ("I" key) will tell you what you planted. :)

Good stuff cheers ;)

Sugar beet must be a yankee thing or something, like Jello=Jelly :p
