sounds like you can just not buy the game and stick a youtube video of someone else playing it on whilst you go and make a pizza or watch TV as a better alternative to courseplay

Not really. Setting and using courseplay is just as involved, but much less tedious. You just get more done. Another way to look at it, is that the "Help" which normally just do the fields by hitting H can do so much more.
 
I'm trying to use courseplay for harvesting but for some reason when i use a Headland the Combine with harvest the headland like normal and then move to the way point to begin harvesting in lanes. The problem is is that the combine harvests the first lane but then simply doesn't turn around to begin the next lane. Instead it just continues in a straight line until it hits an obstacle.

I've posted a video showing the problem and the courseplay settings (basically default) i use in case someone might be able to spot the problem

I've seen that before, I think it was a bug and was fixed. It's usually best to download the latest from the github page if you have issues. Another thing to try is switch on/off "turn on field".
 
Just a heads up that Farming Simulator 17 has come up on sale this weekend for £5.99. The game is an absolute bloody steal at that price! Well worth having a go on it before 19 comes out. Countless hours of relaxing, chilled out fun for £5.99. If you're on the fence or thinking it might be worth a go to see what it's like, now is the time :)
