Hi, can anyone recommend a fast nano usb drive that i could run linux off?

I have an old Thinkpad T43 laptop sitting here thats fine except for the dead ide port on the motherboard so cant use a hard drive in it.

Looked at a few but the read and write speeds are very low compared to normal sized drives. Or would that not really be an issue? (Linux noob here )

Cheers :)

Check if you can get a hard drive Bay that slots into the DVD drive Bay on the laptop. Some models have this feature. Should be cheap on eBay if they do make one

yes just after i posted that dawned on me as i looked at them years ago for extra storage space as hd was only 40Gb when i got it...crazy to think the lapyop was £1500+ when new lol...will have a look :)

edit: thanks again...got one that takes a sata drive too so that solves the problem of finding a new ide drive.
Wonder though what the transfer rate will be? still has to be better than a nano driver at 10mb/s read and 3mb/s write lol :)
