Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache £75
Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache £55
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA-II 64MB Cache £68
Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache £81
It's going in a fanless pc (only fan will be a seasonic x650 psu when the system is drawing over 200W or more when the fan starts hopefully
) The most important aspect really is to be quiet, but also nice and quick ideally.
1) Do the WD use 500gb platters, or are they a lucky dip as to what you get still?
2) How do the samsung ecogreen and wd caviar green compare noise-wise?
3)Is there much difference in speed and noise between the ecogreen and samsung spinpoint?
4) Does the 64mb cache make much difference in terms of speed? Tempted to get that if I knew it would be 500gb platters and quiet...
