Indeed; I sometimes use the Quadro card in my workstation to do statistical analyses via monte-carlo markov chain algorithms. Need the poke and need the double precision...

Its a grand and a half and to be completely honest, when I started the thread, I had abso0lutely no intention of paying anywhere near this... I was sort of thinking maybe £800 to £900 tops for an I7 and I never even considered a Xeon.
But the thing is... I thought sod it, why not treat myself.
The simple fact is, that on December the 4th last year, a bin wagon pulled out on me on my bike. I broke my back in 4 places, shattered my pelvis into 6 pieces, broke my right femur in 3 places and crushed the joint, also my already replaced knee, was once again replaced, I broke both my arms, the right one is now good but the left one is now useless, and I also broke all my left ribs and 8 on my right. Internally, I punchtured my left lung in 2 places, my right lung in one, both kidneys were lacerated and I have only recently come off dialasys ( however you spell it ) my liver was ripped in two and my spleen was ruptured. I have also had numerous rips in my intestines.
The doctors told my family that I would not make it past a week. I was sent to all staffs and my mother rented a house for the family to all go own and stay until the end.
However, I came out of the come after 3 weeks and now even though I am in a wheelchair, I can walk sort of with crutches, and it looks possible that I will get out of it.
So sod it... I should be dead. And if I want to spent a stupid amount of money on a PC that I will never truly need, then sod it why not? Life is too short.
Of course the wife also wants a fridge and a cooker.

Mate, you've got FASTEST PC already. FOR YOUR NEEDS if I've read them properly![]()
Dual-CPU motherboards, Xeons = it's not for you, it will be overkill.
PC won't work faster in terms of noticeable behaviour. It will calculate faster, but in terms of video encoding dual Xeon won't help, if you will buy 2xGTX 780 and install CUDA-based encoder.
All you need is to focus on PCIe-based SSDs, might be in RAID, and upgrade you RAMs to 64GB in quad = and make huge RAM-disk (32 GB) and put all TEMPS and swap there... maybe try to install some kind of packed/hibernated image of Windows as bootloader simply to load an OS image at startup instead of initialize whole system.
I'd suggest spending money on a car, rather than a PC you may not get value from! Safety first!
In all honesty though spend your money on what you want. It's just that, on here, people try to offer builds that offer the most value for price/performance, so it's difficult for people to recommend such monster parts to a certain extent.
Also, the doctors and nurses who cared for you sound like guardian angels. The thread is quite sobering to be honest.
