Fat shaming on a plane - who is in the wrong?

she needs to lighten up (ha, get it? she's fat)

I think airlines do need to introduce the option to pay for 'extra width' seats in economy in addition to just extra leg room, obviously if a row of 3 seats then becomes 2 the cost will have to go up accordingly.

Perhaps weighing passengers could be considered too, with extra charges once you get past normal obesity levels - this does risk alienating people on one hand and potentially generating a backlash, on the other hand people who don't want to sit next to fat people might then have a preference for such an airline.

How would you then deal with incredible large people with huge muscles? They may weigh more than a clinically obese person.

Is it really fat shaming? You're not being prejudiced against her for her weight alone, you're annoyed her weight is making things physically uncomfortable for you.

I'd be annoyed too, she's a big girl. You'd also be annoyed if a screaming toddler sat next to you for similar reasons.

Tbh, I'd have sent those messages because those messages would have been private and I wouldn't care if someone did the same about me. I'm not 12 anymore, I can take the abuse.

If you can't laugh at life, what's the damned point? If he'd have been screaming his comments in her face for all to hear... sure she can get upset about that. He didn't treat her in any manner becasue his words were for him and the recipient. She should have kept her eyes to herself. What if he was writing something about how he suffers from ED to his partner and she noticed that, would she laugh inside? Possibly. But it wasn't a public outcry so it needn't be an issue to her.

She's got some more attention and publicity now though, so he did her a favour for being a fogbeast.

ah I was going to make a thread on this yesterday but decided against it :D

Anyway she's in the wrong, they were private messages, she knew he wasn't happy about having to sit next to a fat person and was looking to get offended/pick a fight over it and really she ended up being the one 'shaming' him and attempting to bully/intimidate him thanks to her numerous social media followers.

How can you watch these shows? Everyone is so rude there. My view is so important than yours!

I can see a market for phone screen hiders.

What exactly are you referring to - the weight comment or the size comment? Why would they be treated any differently in either context - if they don't fit into a seat they need a bigger one or two and if they weigh more than the limit they pay more.
