Fat shaming on a plane - who is in the wrong?

If I want to say something about someone privately on my phone then there's nothing wrong with it...why is it such a big deal because she's fat ? If he had called her a tool or similar would it be perceived as such a big deal ?

She's obese and if she really wants to be a role model then she will lose that fat and show people how its done.

Agreed. I limit my activity on GD now for this very reason. I think it's sort of indicative of our cultures attitude towards mental health, to which obesity and many other addictions are undoubtedly linked.

"Look at that fat pig with no self control".

People forget that it's not just an eating problem, it's more a LIVING problem that these people have. As evidenced throughout this forum, people find it so very, very difficult to understand that life for some people is different, let alone more difficult.

Not really to do with the topic of the thread, but I felt it was somewhat relevant.

Then do something about it...I was one of those people, spoke to a dr fella and have lost 7 stone this year. It can be done if you want it to and for people like her with money then it will be a hell of a lot easier.

She clearly chooses not to as she likes the attention.

Thing is if she loses the weight shes just a nobody with a lot of excess skin.

If she stays fat shes got a few years of being a "model".

Fixed that for you.

Whilst I definitely congratulate you on such an awesome achievement, I think you have to remember that it's just not that easy for some people.

Like I said, it's not just an eating problem for some, it's an actual living problem. It's no different from someone who turns to drugs or alcohol to numb themselves to existence.

People like that are almost the polar opposite to this lady here who is essentially utilising her weight to earn money (which I see no issue with), though obviously I don't know her story so will refrain from any real assumptions.

Btw I would gladly see 6 seats per plain turned into 4 for fat and tall people.

I'm 6ft6.5 and it's physically painfully to fly.
I'd absolutely pay x 1.5 more to have enough legroom to fold them on sideways or atleast not slammed into the seat in front.

Airlines should consider this.

Airlines consider only money. 6 seats are more profitable than 4 unless they can reliably get 50% higher fares for the 4 seats. You're willing and able to do that, but you're one person. The airline would need 4 people willing to pay 50% extra on every flight and that's very unlikely. Planes are expensive to buy, maintain and fly and airlines exist for the purpose of making a profit.

You might get it as a result of obese people gaining enough power to get preferential treatment (which will result in everyone paying more to fly), but you won't get it out of consideration for your height. Very tall people don't have enough power to force that over profit.

Yes, but smack rats or drunks don't try and glorify their addiction. This tart does.

This is true, I can understand someone who may have clinical depression/eating disorder etc etc may genuinely be fat because food is the one thing you can feel a little bit good about. I've been there and done it but luckily I've stayed fit most of my life and have genetics where I can get away with it too an extent.

But the difference is here she's active as hell on social media and glorifies it....

"I work out about 5 times a week" - Sure, sure sure sure. Maybe her definition of working out is lifting a hand to grab another slice.

I was gonna be nice and fair, but she sounds extremely entitled, so deserves all she gets. The guy sent a private message and she invaded that privacy. He then apologised when confronted. that should have been the end of it.

Also, somebody needs to swipe the smug off Morgan's face. He's such a gerbil.

No wonder the Americans hated him and why the ratings of his shows over there tanked when he was there for years.

That's fine when you're talking about the majority however she clearly does it as she is attention seeking. She literally gets paid because she's fat...that's all kinds of wrong.

I absolutely see an issue with someone using their ill health to gain money as if it's a good thing. Being confident about yourself is fine however how about she encourages people not to be 6 stone overweight instead...

Can you all confirm that if you sat next to a guy on the plane or whatever and he slated you via text, you would just sit there and smile for a 3h flight...

I'm not saying you need to film it and act like a tool, but, you would all sit there because, "private conversastion" let it wash over so to be...
