Fatal overclock.

it was running fine but i thourt temps looked a little high at 28 idle and 58 with prime after an hour.
so thourt ide lower the volts , the rest is in the post above.

Ouch - OP had CPU current capability set at 140%, LLC on ultra and then set vcore at 1.8v. I suspect that combination may have killed the CPU, sorry to say. Hopefully someone can help you test it to make sure, but I'd prepare for the worst.

Good luck getting it sorted - I'd chalk this one up to experience.

yup me to.

only hope i have is i havent taken the mother board too.
little light at the end of the tunnel had the ram tested and works perfect.
so now the dillema do i go buy a new motherboard or cpu ?
if any one can give me any indication as to what the likely hood of me
having blown both mobo and cpu it would really help.

As I mentioned earlier you should be able to get a replacement from where you bought it or from intel. Just message them saying my cpu has stopped working I'd like a replacement and they will ask you to post it back to them.

We have the same mobo and chip and in bad overclocks, sometime you cant really boot up.

Try this before you loose hope:

1. Unplug your power cable.
2. On the motherboard (bottom), there is a power button that has a red LED - wait for that to turn off, it takes about a minute or two.
3. Do a BIOS reset (blue jumper) leave the jumper for a few seconds, then put it back in its original position.
4. Now plug your power cable back and swith your PC on, Good luck!!!

you dont know anything until you test cpu in another mb or vice versa, you have 14 day return/refund for anything bought through post,"distance selling regulations" but they wont refund on cpu if seals been broken,no seal on mb's though

This is why I refuse to buy Mobo/CPU/GPU second hand. Worth paying the extra few quid and getting it all new so you can send it back in cases like these.

You know if the original owner regiestered it with intel? If its still covered by its warrenty you may be able to get a refund direct from intel..

Don't want to hijack the thread, but how do you register it with Intel? Because I recently built my first ever PC and today I have overclocked for the first time (only set multiplier to 40, didn't touch anything else, 2500K) and I would like to have mine registered

Also, so am I right in saying/understanding what people have told me, that if you blow the CPU by overclocking, Intel will replace it without any issues?

Thanks in advance, :)

14 days is incorrect.

Doesn't matter where you bought it from, you can send it back to intel as long as it is within the warranty period (1 year for OEM and 3 for retail).

Definitely a dead chip if you put 1.8v through it unfortunately
