Hey a few weeks ago I upgraded my computer with new memory,GPU and PSU

The memory has been causing me a lot of problems

I got recommended this memory, in a ealier thread

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-084-CR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=144&name=Crucial%202GB%20(2x1GB)%20DDR2%20PC2-5300C5%20Dual%20Channel%20Kit%20(CT2KIT12864AA667)

to use in this mobo

http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=spec_Rio&ppn=PB34316401

What happens is it boots up fine, windows recongnises that its 2GB's and stuff, it says on the mobo page that it supports DDR2 667 which is what that memory is, but randomly my PC will instantly turn off an reboot while just idle
and when I run a game like L4D or Farcry, the second i get into the game, past all the menu's it just goes straight to the desktop and exits the game without so much as a crash message, so my question is, is the memory faulty or does my Mobo not support it :/

Thanks in advance

Maybe I am missing something but you say you changed memory, GPU and PSU so how do you know the memory is causing the trouble?

I changed back to my old ram and the problems went away :)

And as for running memtest, as soon as I click start testing, it says Ran Out of memory or something, but ill try with 1 stick

****EDIT****

Tried with 1 stick in and tried both of them same results as with both in, going to run memtest+ overnight from a bootable CD instead of in windows.

So I left memtest running today for an hour (Memtest86+ 2.11)

with 1 pass and 0 errors

So, is that good or bad or what :P or should I leave it running even longer

Depends on who you ask, in my opinion 1 pass is enough to rule-out faulty memory when you aren't sure which component is the problem.

How frequent are the resets?

What is the old RAM?

That Crucial stuff is standard kit, it uses 1.8 volts and standard timings so if the motherboard can't run stable with it, I don't know what would.

If the option exists in the BIOS you could try running the memory at a lower speed (533 or 400) and/or bumping up the northbridge voltage a notch.

It doesn't appear to be turning up errors (at least not with any frequency, you'd be getting BSODs and memtest results would be more obvious) so I can't see it being faulty.

If all is cured with the old RAM then I guess as you have decided, it must be the new RAM or a compatibility issue but what that is, eludes me.

Unless anyone can think of anything else to try, I suppose you may as well set memtest running tonight and come back to it in the morning, and see if it's picked anything up in however many passes it will have done then. Yes one pass should theoretically be enough, but I've also heard three passes recommended before to be sure.
The other thing you could do is RMA it, but that's obviously a fair bit of hassle.

so you just replaced your old ram with new ram what settings are in your BIOS for the RAM. I notice these are CL5 what spec was your old ram

you may have to change the timings, if the BIOS lets you, some packard bell boards have very limited BIOS
