Argh, my computer runs fine at all times except when playing games. I can be playing a game for a random amount of time (sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 2 hours) then it crashes to desktop and i get an error. Its really annoying because when not playing games i use my PC for other strenuous tasks like rendering video and using graphic-design programs like Premiere, Photoshop and Flash, yet it handles all of these tasks without a hitch.
After 2 DAYS of Googling, I've narrowed down the problem to do with my RAM, but I've really no idea what to do now, short of buying new RAM. I'd heard this 'memtest' thing was useful so i tried it.
I only ran memtest for 30 minutes but it found 2 errors in that time. I'm now thinking of:
1. trying the ram in the 2 other slots of my mobo.
2. underclocking the ram
3. buying new ram.
I've no idea if any of those solutions will work (im not even 100% sure it is my ram causing this problem, so spending £70 on new RAM might not be worthwhile).
Forgot to say what my specs are:
AMD 64 X2 4600+ 2.41ghz
2GB Corsair ram, (a pair of 1GB sticks)
Fatal1ty AN9 32x
GeForce 8800GTS
