Faulty RAM, memtest found errors, what now?

Argh, my computer runs fine at all times except when playing games. I can be playing a game for a random amount of time (sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 2 hours) then it crashes to desktop and i get an error. Its really annoying because when not playing games i use my PC for other strenuous tasks like rendering video and using graphic-design programs like Premiere, Photoshop and Flash, yet it handles all of these tasks without a hitch.

After 2 DAYS of Googling, I've narrowed down the problem to do with my RAM, but I've really no idea what to do now, short of buying new RAM. I'd heard this 'memtest' thing was useful so i tried it.

I only ran memtest for 30 minutes but it found 2 errors in that time. I'm now thinking of:

1. trying the ram in the 2 other slots of my mobo.
2. underclocking the ram
3. buying new ram.

I've no idea if any of those solutions will work (im not even 100% sure it is my ram causing this problem, so spending £70 on new RAM might not be worthwhile).

Forgot to say what my specs are:

AMD 64 X2 4600+ 2.41ghz
2GB Corsair ram, (a pair of 1GB sticks)
Fatal1ty AN9 32x
GeForce 8800GTS

Corsair will replace those sticks no problem, though you will need to send them off to the US. It's usually a pretty quick process though, less than 2 weeks end to end.

First thing you need to do is go to the Corsair website and then onto the Forums. Here's a link.

Read the FAQ's in the link, and take it from there. You basically have to fill in an online RMA form, and then do as they say.

Thanks for the advice, I've gone straight for it and requested an RMA. Can't hurt.

However, I really can't go even a few days without my computer, so will need to buy some cheap DDR2 ram to go in temporaily (even if its like a single 256/512 stick). Any suggestions for something cheap that will work as a tempoary spare?

explain to corsair that you need a computer, and ask for replacements before you send the old ones off.

I can't imagine they'd do that, have you heard of them doing it before? I will ask just in case, but won't have my hopes up. I was thinking of buying new RAM before I send it off anyway, then I'll have some spare once the replacements come back. Not really sure what to go for yet though...
