Faulty TV from Argos help.

You seemed to have laughed out loud a lot during this sorry debacle.

Why did the manager say you'd caused the dead pixels? What's the rest of the story?

Rest of the story?

Obviously I carried the TV into the store so there was a couple of finger marks on the display but thats it. He pointed them out and I said they were from carrying the TV.

I tried explaining about dead pixels etc but he wouldnt replace it and claimed it was my wrong doing.

I would call head office and complain. Give the store name, managers name and let them deal with getting your TV replaced.

it not faulty- problem solved

Dead Pixel not exceeding 7 dots is within factory specification and is not considered a defect under this warranty
DOES NOT COVER MINOR IMPERFECTIONS IN PRODUCTS THAT MEET DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS OR IMPERFECTIONS THAT DO NOT MATERIALLY ALTER FUNCTIONALITY. WE MAKE NO SATISFACTION GUARANTEES, PERFORMANCE GUARANTEES

caps from the website cba to retype but HTH

4 pixels is not covered under warranty, if it's a bad panel it might get worse so keep your eye on it.

Andi.

This.

Dead pixels are not usually covered under any warranty or even insurance, usually it has to be a specific number of dead pixels like several or a cluster of bad pixels.

Argos guide line here:

" repairs due to pixel failure where the number or location is not in excess of the manufacturer’s acceptable limit"

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/StaticDisplay/includeName/productBreakdowntandc.htm

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/StaticDisplay/includeName/ReturnsAndRefunds.htm

You may have to check the manufacturers dead pixel policy to find out exactly what they can do, even if its not covered no harm really to call up the manufacturer and explain the situation they may still offer a repair or good will repair worth a try.

Or like others suggested email or write a recorded delivery(for proof) letter to Argos Head quarters explaining about the poor customer service you have received don't be afraid to mention you were advised by Argos customer services to bring in your tv and have it replaced by them and then what the manager did, shame you did not get that telephone persons name but this is what most telephone advisers say and do to get rid of the caller.

Nothing to loose good luck:D

This thread is funny...

TV isn't faulty... therefore store don't need to replace.

Not threadworthy... ;-)

Were the dead pixels in the same vicinity as the finger marks?

Dead pixel warranties need to be updated to suit the modern manufacturing methods that have meant that in the hundreds of displays that I have dealt with in the past five years I have never seen a single dead pixel.

It's not a fragile low-yield product any more, and broken dots on a display should be considered a fault.

Agreed, however it doesn't really help the OP, are they dead or stuck? Have you tried a pixel fixing screen saver at all, the kind that cycles colour, leave it run for a day or so?
