Favourite intro

The ones that have stuck with me in my gaming lifetime:

LeChuck's Revenge - Monkey Island 2

I remember being amazed and amused at this as a young person.

Final Fantasy IX

The first time I was truly blown away by an opening cinematic.

Gran Turismo 3

Still, in my opinion, the best GT intro to date. This may be due to my love of Feeder but nonetheless it is awesome.

ThundyCat wins, I'm totally going to go download and play that again <3.

Also +1 to the first Half Life game, totally groundbreaking at the time and I still love it to this day.

Cannot believe anyone has not mentioned Full Thottle!

One of the best games of all time! Great shout on the intro.

Bioshock's first descent into rapture was epic

I personally love Space Quest IV's too:

And of course Mass Effect 1 with the music building up - felt like I was watching a high budget film.

Edit: Oh and you have to look Metal Gear Solid 1's intro.

It may an older and not the PS3 graphics that we are currently used to, but I just absolutely adore the Final Fantasy VII intro (and the game of course). It's up there with the best of them IMO.

Here's the best intro for me:

Unreal Tournament 99.

Well, to be honest - I agree that the best one is probably Half Life, but I like UT99 as well and it hasn't got a mention yet

Quake 3, the fact that sarge can smoke a cigar while unloading a full clip of plasma into some mutants and then jump into them. The music as it kicks in and the camera pull back of different stages through the Quake 3 logo and title was so fricking awesome the first time I saw that back in 99/2000

Rolls out the obligitary Mechwarrior 3 :

And the cheesily acted but nonetheless very entertaining Mechwarrior 4 :

And the absolutely brilliant intro to Warhammer - Mark of Chaos :
