Favourite Star Wars movie?

1. ESB
2. RO
3. ANH
4. ROTJ.

The other films really aren't worth watching.

And I reckon the second series of Rebels was the best.

I have just watched all of these over the last month or so. I watched them in chronological order, not the order they were released.

The ones I enjoyed the most are

Rogue one.
The Force Awakens.
The Last Jedi
The Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope.

The two surprises for me are The Force Awakens and the The Last Jedi. When I originally watched them on release I didn't think they were that good at all. But watching them back this time, I really enjoyed them. I didn't like Luke Skywalker in these movies, but, I didn't like his character in the original movies either.

Oh, just wanted to add, I hate the Rise of Skywalker. They had something good going and ruined it with that last movie.

Why, oh why did they go down the silly route of bringing back Emperor Palpatine? They had this brilliant last act setup. Kylo Ren should have gone fully to the dark side, Leia should try to save him but fail and die in the attempt. And then build up to Rey Vs Kylo in the final battle. Would have been a much better movie.

i doubt that - if one thing is clear from the sequels its that they seemingly had no plan at all.
i don't disagree that they seemingly had no overall plan for the films, but i know for sure that i read or watched them say that the ep7 han, ep8 luke, ep9 leia idea was there from the start.

it's not hard to believe either when you look at the films and how they cantered around each of those characters.

one thing i don't understand and wish i could change is that if there's a film i really enjoy, say for instance interstalla which is a great standalone original one off film, if they bring out an unnecessary sequel and it's terrible and makes no sense, goes against the rules set by the first film, this makes me end up not liking the first film so much that i may never end up watching it again. star wars is where it's happened for me most recently. i feel 7/8/9 has ruined star wars enough for me that i have no desire for the other trilogies as i feel the ending to that story is so pants that i don't see the need to watch the middle and beginning to it. anyone else get this? lotr is the one only time ican think of that i've been able to continue enjoying it even though i know the hobbit is there trying to remind me of the big dump that it took on lotr and the characters. legolas for instance was butchered by the hobbit.

I think thats the same for quite a lot of people. For me Ep8, and especially the studios response to the fans negative reaction to Ep8, killed any enthusiasm I had for the movie side of Lucasfilm and for the the trilogy and, if it hadn't been for The Mandalorian showing that some people in Lucasfilm were still interested in making good stories, then I've have written the whole of Star Wars off.

Even so I'm not angry or annoyed by the movie side of Lucasfilm any more, now I just don't care. Lucasfilm have decided they don't want me as a fan if I didn't like Ep8 and the feeling seems to be mutual.

Yeah, the cinematic side of Lucasfilm is dead to me. The Mandolorian and Clone Wars remain good though and give me hope.
I'll wait and see if they do indeed use the Veil of the Force to undo the sequels and then maybe get excited again if they actually have a real think about a trilogy told with an actual coherent story at its core.
Although, having seen the insider images from the writers room for the High Republic, I'm not sure anything will change.

It's something they introduced in Season 4 on Rebels. Basically, it's like a backroom/"mystical dimension" where you canscan portals to events in the past, present and future. You can interact with them (one character is brought from the past through a portal into the Veil and then goes into the present) as well as view things. I'm not sure I really like them concept as it makes the writing too sloppy but if they can use it to get rid of the sequel trilogy I'll accept it. Maybe after that they could "lose" it somehow.

Kinda like the DC multiverse then?

Outside of the original trilogy, Rogue One closely followed by Solo.

The CGI prequels weren’t bad, but the latest 3 with Mary Sue Jedi, Emo Sith and Diversity Hire Stormtrooper were awful.

I enjoyed Rogue One and Solo much more than the last 3 in the series.

Fortunately, the star wars stories gave them a start and end point that they couldn't deviate from, unlike the latest trilogy where they've just completely lost the plot (was there a plot?)

Veil of the Force? Is that like the 1980s soap Dallas where an entire story arc just turned out to be a dream? If so, that’s really, really ******* lazy writing.

Sounds just like that and they will never do that. No way would they need to or want to confuse average viewers like that.

The films sucked. They earned Disney a lot of money and will continue to. That is as far as it will go. I don't imagine they care too much what we think.

Veil of the Force = Time travel mixed with Alternate Universes = the only way the writers can think of to get the franchise out of the hole it's in :D

I looked at the teasers from the "High Republic" writers table - It's a sinking ship and this core of new "idea makers" brought in to help Lucasfilm continue are just the band playing as the ship sinks, only they're a poop band! I'd heard a lot of rumours on various YT channels about the internal "civil war" currently going on at Lucasfilm, with the "new" guard brought in by KK fighting the "old" guard led by Feloni and I just find myself ambivalent to it all now.

For me the "old" Star Wars is dead and we never got to see the core trio on screen together which is a huge shame. I think Lucasfilm are chasing a "new" audience which just isn't there any more, and what ever they get won't ever be in "old" audience sizes as the "new" generation have already been smitten by Marvel with Star Wars just not "good" enough to compete for the kids attention in comparison.

I tend to agree, Ianh. What staggers me is that there is a better plot for Jedi Fallen Order than for the entire Disney Star Wars series.
