Fed up with IOS, where to go?

I'm in the same boat as OP wanting something different from my IP4 after having iphones from day one.

Only things i'm worried about are syncing stuff to my mac, music, pictures & contacts etc and the screen resolution of the SGS2

sgs2 for the win! although htc are not as bad as the OP makes out. I went from 3 iphones (1,1.5 and 3g) to a htc desire and loved it.

only recently got the sgs2 but its even more awesome the screen is so lush and bright.

im not sure the nexus prime will bring much to the table looks wise but android 4 might be something worth holding on for.

What if you give iOS 5 a try and try and get your ringtones up and running using the suggestions provided previously.
If you're still not happy then go for the Nexus Prime.

Nothing about the SGS2 feels cheap or tacky. Looks-wise, I haven't met an iPhone user that I've shown it too who hasn't muttered a little "Wow" :)

Smooth as butter = Windows Phone 7.

The only problem is that all of the current handsets are butt ugly.

But if you can wait for the Nokia Searay.... ;)

It's not logical to dismiss HTC on the basis of your bad experience, they are good phones from a good company.

I spent over £500 with HTC and 3 months later they wanted another £180 for a repair that should have been covered under warranty but their engineers said it was caused by misuse, they said I was pressing the screen too hard or crushing the device, I always kept it in a case and was extremely careful with it, No phone I have had before or since has had the problem, I told them if they didn't repair it for free I would never use HTC again, I'm keeping my promise

Shouldnt dismiss a Blackberry tbh...have a look at the 9900, its the best BB out at the moment and is an absolute joy to use. Although it depends on if you want a huge touchscreen and if your an app whore so to speak...if thats the case then have a look at the 100's of Android handsets out there...

I do like my apps, I'm not an app whore but I like to be able to browse and see what's new and what I can waste my time on when I'm waiting around or on the loo

whats your budget?

Well I'm going to sell off my iPhone 4 which is in mint condition so I'm expecting at least £300 for that and I can put around £200 into the fund if need be

As mentioned, wait 6 days until the Samsung/Google announcement which is almost definitely going to be the 'Google Nexus Prime' and Android Ice Cream Sandwich (or version 4.0 :p)

Right now if you want to go Android then SGS2 is the way to go, the closest competitor is the HTC Sensation which is obviously out of the picture, but as Samsung appear to be making the next Nexus phone for Google then the Nexus Prime is going to be, at worst, a mildly tweaked SGS2 with stock Android 4.0, at best it could have a 720p SAMOLED screen that could be awesome, so it's likely to take over as the best Android phone.

Otherwise WP7 which is ok, but locked down like iOS really.

Or Blackberry I guess...

Not true! I just hate the standard ringtones, I'd much rather hear the Star Wars Empire Theme or A-Team Theme when my phone rings

Goodies theme for me. :D Pretty much guaranteed to be unique... ;)

As for phones - Galaxy S II rules the roost at the moment.

Nexus Prime may be a step too large, but the screen sounds beautiful.

HTC is a good brand and good products, but fair enough.

it depends what you want.

So I will just agree with others and say the Samsung Galexy S 2 I would have one, if I wanted a big phone that or the SE Arc S of course
