First chance to see the bruising. I'll spoilerise it as it's not pretty

Ow ow ow. I had a leg that looked like that after I took a tumble over a garden wall (long story) the purple bits are from busted arteries leaking blood sub haemotoma or something like that. I was off for a few days with that and that wasn't even a break. Arm wasn't much better big blood pool and a puncture wound that kept dripping blood for a couple of days. Got better eventually though! As you say trying to get some sleep is the worst thing.

Nasty. I had bruising like that after a big car crash. A nice diagonal stripe across my torso where the seatbelt saved my life.

I asked the consultant about those and was told no. He asked how I'd feel about the seatbelt holding pressure against the broken part of my arm and then what I'd do if it started raining.

Not sure what you are on about...'tis but a flesh wound! Now when I was a lad...

Hope it heals fine. As a veteran of about 6 broken bones over my lifetime l, bruised ribs on both side and two torn calf muscles on different occasions, you will heal up but the initial month or so will take some adjustment and the first couple of weeks the most difficult and the first week the most painful.

You seem to be through the worst and it gets better from here

Nasty, I suspect this won't heal fully sadly, so your rehab is going to be crucial if you are in anyway into sports.

I’ve seen the consultant and I have to have surgery on my shoulder. I asked how many fractures there are and he stopped counting at eight. He described it as totally shattered and a ‘mush’ in there.

He said that when it’s all done, the best case scenario (one which he’d call a success) is where I can raise my arm to shoulder height.

It’s being done next Tuesday.

Jesus, sorry to hear that. The human body is a remarkable machine but sadly quite fragile.
