carragher's played that role for liverpool too, so he's another option.

yeh.. but with carrick and parker we have a definite holding midfielder... why experiment with defenders and that when we have the players already.

why not stick david james on the left.. see what he does.. and we have owen in central defence..

Now that Gerrard's been playing on the right for Liverpool, I'd be very tempted to shove him out there for an England friendly to see how he does. That would free up the middle of the pitch for Lampard + holding midfielder, which as said plays a lot better than Gerrard and Lampard together, but of course would also mean that precious boy Beckham wouldn't get a game, and that's not going to happen any time soon.

It's a disgrace if thats to get Carragher in the team. He's no better than good and always seems to mess up at International level. He's not in Terry's or Ferdinand's class.
