So I had my cambelt and water pump done today (2007 Clio 1.4 petrol) and I pick it up just as they're closing and coincidentally finishing off and when I get home and turn off the ignition the car sounds like it's almost still running (almost as if a fan) is still going?

There are also now two audible clicks shortly after engine is switched off that weren't there before.

Is is this sort of thing in anyway normal shortly after this work? Obviously I cannot ring them as they're shut, any words of wisdom?

I note the battery has been disconnected as i had to type the radio code in. Something they tried to hid by turning the radio off just as he got out the car.

Check the coolant, I would say its normal to disconnect the battery for any major work like that.

As for the clicks no idea

edit, by warm I mean it was hot out today and you may have been stuck in traffic or something?
 
I've never noticed this before after long journeys and it's not far from there to home.

It's something you would notice as well as it's fairly loud. It does sound like it's around the radiator area.
 
Open up the bonnet, poke fingers into fan.

If they come back red, then your fan is running.
 
Many cars will do this (most modern cars)

If you've been in stop/start traffic* and the car is hot, then the fan will stay on for a few mins to cool the car down.

*or if you've been hooning

Since you've had all this work done, might be worth checking your coolant level. I'd like to think the garage would bleed the system and keep it topped up. Often this takes a quick spin in the car to get the levels right. Maybe they didn't bother..? (thinking out loud here)

Car radio code is standard, just type it back in. It's good practice to disconnect the battery when doing major work.
 
I have zero experience with Renault cars, wait for someone else to pipe up.

Worth checking your coolant level though (only add the correct coolant, not water) Don't open your rad cap if the coolant is still hot. You'll get burned
 
If the fan is running when the engine isn't hot or when it wouldn't normally be running, it indicates there is a problem with the cooling system. Since you have had the water pump changed it is probably an air lock in the system.

A wire off the temp sensor will also cause this, as the ECU will keep the fan on to protect the engine if it doesn't know how hot the coolant is.

Did you get it done in Stratford? Which garage so I know to avoid! They've obviously not put it back together properly as they were rushing to get it done by close of play. I've used Masons before and they've been very good.
 
Thanks, Would this be obvious to them or should I be telling them that it's suspected to be that? Is it OK to drive (it's a short distance) ?

Robbie I did get it done in Stratford and stupidly at Kwik fit, yea I know, I've paid for it now and it's the last time I go there. They've done a bit for me in the past and can't fault them. Until this.

I am going to politely state I think it's been rushed and I need it back how I left it with them (with new parts obviously).
 
I know. I've had no issue with them in the past, but now that's another garage I won't use in Stratford.

They all seem just as bad.

I've had issues with Rybrook and an indie BMW garage. FML.
