FFS! It's BOUGHT!

But surely you can understand what the person means when they say "Look at these new shoes I just brought."? It's a mistake on their part but verbally you can understand it.

Unless you're writing for The Times then I wouldn't be bothered by it.

I would ignore it from a dyslexic. Otherwise it's just plain lazy, both words have clearly different meanings, they do not sound similar, there is no excuse except bad English. Inb4 comma splice.

There are far more important things to get het up about than someone who mixes up the spelling of words, especially on an Internet forum of all places.

I think the people who chirp up and correct grammar are far more annoying than the people who make the mistakes.

'would have' instead of 'would have' is all too commonly written and a pet hate of mine.
'Usually always'... well make your mind up.

I just bought these to your attention.

Oh, oh, here's another one, how about when people say they are being "quite pacific" rather than "specific"?!? Unless of course they are feeling all oceany... :)

Man i'm so happy my life has enough purpose that this does not bother me

I don't think it actually bothers most people even though they think it does but more the fact that we all went to school and these are the first things we are taught. Plus you have to consider that a current schoolchild most likely knows bought from brought better than an adult making the error.

So why do people forget these things? That's the important question. Does it also mean that what they "revised" for before an exam has also been forgotten given that they won't be using what they've only revised for in their daily jobs in the majority of cases?

Deep.

Initially I considered that this error might be as a result of a spell-check misfire (Suggesting a correctly spelled, but incorrect, replacement word for a misspelt one)

However my first couple of attempts to misspell "Bought" in a way that would trigger "Brought" have failed :(

So maybe it is just good old fashioned illiteracy after all!

(Something of which I am frequently guilty of, so I am not sitting on a high horse here!)

Also, it is something NOT somethink!

The amount of people I know who mispronounce this does my head in. They don't write it like that so why the hell do they say it?
