fiesta 1.0 ecoboost

I've been reading a few posts on some ford forums recently about some steel pipes corroding/rusting (coolant lines from the turbo?)

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/95740-2013-10l-ecoboost-engine-rust-problem/

I have a 2015 fiesta new from the factory and have similar, albeit not as bad corrosion.

Just a heads up if anyone else on here has a Fiesta, might want to take a look. If it corroded through, its the coolant from the turbo I think? So would be a fairly catastrophic failure. I think the Focus 1.0 ecoboost had issues with a different, plastic coolant hose splitting.

For what it's worth I averaged 33.41mpg over 11,063 miles in my ST. This was mostly a mix of spirited A/B road and town driving. My commute changed in May to be quite a bit longer and involved some motorway and the average was more like 37mpg since then.

The best tank was 40.82mpg, the worst was 27.67mpg (I remember this one well :D).
My 2016 Focus ST burns a little bit more fuel then that

OP - I had a 2014 plate 1.0 Ecoboost 100PS Zetec for just over 8670 miles from new. My daily commute was ~18 miles each way on A roads through mixed 30/40/50/60mph speeds. From new I tracked the miles and had an average of 52.13mpg. The best single tank was 57mpg covering 488 miles.

Compared to my current 2015 plate 1.6 Ecoboost 182PS ST3 I've done ~19000 miles and have an average of 41.3mpg (best tank 46mpg covering 444 miles).

Impressive, my wifes hovers around 29mpg all the time, even when i picked it up i struggled to get above 35mpg in it (its 62 plate but i dont think its physically different to yours). For a (relatively) low powered engine they're not massively economical, i can get similar figures from my car and thats almost double the power/capacity (3.6l/420hp). Its not as comfy as the focus tho. I have read a lot about ford being very optimistic with they're cars in the last 5 years.

Even my tuned MK2 Focus ST got better mpg and that was a 2.5 5 cylinder. Used to hang around 28. You sure there isn't something wrong with it?

But yes, Ford have been exaggerating their MPG figures quite a lot recently. Especially on their ecoboxes.

I had a mk3.5 focus ST from new when they first came out. For the first 3000 miles or so the MPG was abysmal, even worse than the MK2 focus ST it replaced. However by the 10,000 mile mark it had sorted itself out and was returning about 30mpg, with the mountune 275 pack on it as well.

I've got a 65 plate 100 bhp Titanium and get about 45 mpg but I have been thinking of getting it mapped to 125-140 bhp as I feel it needs a bit more go.

I think it's her commute, 2 days a week she drives a couple of miles for baby groups (all 30mph zones) and her commute is maybe 6 miles each way, with about a quarter of that being 60 the rest being 30. Also quite a bit of stop start. Journey is about 20 mins, when we went to newquay in August (about 350 miles each way) we managed mid to high 30s, or we were until we hit heavy traffic.

No it because most times I drive it only takes about 5 minutes to get to where am going :D (I.E To work is only a 2 1/2 mile trip)

The island I live on is only about 7 miles long from one end to the other ;)

I’ve had a couple of the 100bhp fiestas as loan cars, they are brilliant little things.

Sound fantastic as well when you cane them.

Only downside I found was the Fuel tank wasn’t the biggest.

Thanks for the info guys. Looking around it seems they are bad for the coolant pipe leading to the turbo corroding. Not a big fix but a fix and potential new engine none the less.

Mpg could be better as always. I know ford have always been on the lower end of the mpg tables but still better than what I get just now.
