The girlfriend has a 2017 mk8 fiesta 1.0 100 hp that she would like remapped. She likes the car other than the power being a touch low.

She isn't looking to change the car. It is out of warranty and is owned outright.

I had my old mk2 focus diesel remapped by Superchips in 2012. I was happy with the results.

Other remap companies claim a lot more power, but I'd rather go on the conservative side for engine life.

I wondered if anyone had any thoughts before going with Superchips?

The only difference between the 100 and 125 is the map. If the bluefin/superchips stock map isn't crazily over 125hp you should be fine for a simplistic view.

Maybe I'm just old now, but I remember my first drive in a 1.0 EcoBoost and the smile on my face. What's she used to, to say it is slow?

Anyway, 125hp should be easy on standard Ford map if the other chap is right about the blocks being identical. I've used RS Tuning in Leeds.

Is that the case with the mk8?

The 7.5 has different turbos from memory :)

OP - I wouldn’t bother have a specialist map done on a dyno for a fiesta. Find a reputable specialist who have lots of experience and they’ll be able to get it done decently well without one, saving you a bit of cash.

Where abouts in Derbyshire are you, I have a mate who does remaps at his garage?

I did look at mapping for my Focus before I swapped it so never got round to having it done as I'm not sure the M135 needs doing

I believe 100, 125 and 140 are all the same engine and turbo's but as preivously mentioned with a different map.

Only as an example but on SLT Tuning (Friend has used them, 12 months + no issues since using them on a VAG 2.0 TDI)

Original Figures
100HP
170NM

Stage 1
152HP
250NM
-----------------------------------
Original Figures
125HP
200NM

Stage 1
150HP
250NM
-----------------------------------
Original Figures
140HP
210NM

Stage 1
150HP
260NM

Those figures to me show that all Ford have done is de-tuned the 140HP Model to 100, 125, so in theory a Stage 1 brings you the power figures they are happy selling them at from factory.

so, despite closeness of power/torque on original ford figures, there are no internal gymnastics on the engines - like bmw

  • UL stands for lower-performance, the piston is made out of a simple aluminum-alloy, the crankshaft is simple-forged and uses a sintered connecting rod. It can cover up to 25kw/75nm per cylinder and is used in models like the x16d, x18d and x25d (exept the f10 model after 2011)
  • OL stands for upper-perfomance, the cylinder path is honed several times, it has forged connecting rods and the bearings of the rods and crankshaft are sputtered bearing. It can cover up to 35kw/100nm and is used in models like x20d, x30d.
  • TOP is for high performance, including a special treated crankshaft as well as laser-treated cylinder-paths. With this it is possible to increase injection-pressure and rated speed. This cylinders are used in models like x23d, 525d (after 2011) and x35d/x40d.
