I dont understand why people spend five figure sums on cars without bothering to make sure they've checked every possible option first

He wanted the ST version of a car he has had for a year?

what colour did you get? I love the STs, planning on getting one hopefully by the start of next year.

i bought colorado red with the white side stripes and technology pack.

these are quite popular at my work, not as popular as the focus, not as quick as a clio 182 (personal experience around nurburgring) but still good fun.

Sounds from his posts like he was dead set on a Fiesta ST, and if he drove one and was happy with it, I can't really see any reason why he shouldn't have bought it. Maybe others are technically better, but if that's what you want, that's what you want.

Fiesta STs rule.

I was one of the first 100 people in the country to buy one and I got a free day down at prodrive with my car for being one of the first.

Was great fun, took it round the high speed circuit, adverse handling circuit, skid pan and defensive on-road driving class (taught by a traffic cop who was also a fatal accident investigator :s).

Mine was a 54 plate so its getting old now but I still love it.
Engine is starting to slacken a little now too and its starting to feel faster. :)
Only have about 11500 miles on the clock as I don't drive far but I do get there quick... ;)

I really want to get a Focus ST next and probably will as soon as I can afford it.
Best thing is, I can keep my private plate if I upgrade to the Focus.
S7 CYA! :D

Good choice mate.
I'm not too keen on the new ones with the 'bug eye' headlights and multi-coloured dash but if you like it that's all that's important. :)

Oh i think the new facelifted ones look much better. Replaced the extremely boring interior with something a little better and the bug eyes are cooool :p

i plan on getting a focus st next too in a couple of years of course.lol

They are great little cars, you're gonna enjoy it! Begrudgingly selling mine though :( Hopefully get back on the ST wagon via a focus one day in the future, in the meantime ive got to settle for something cheap and boring. I remember when i was waiting a couple of months for mine to arrive...I envy you!

only a couple of weeks left now till i get my new st and was wondering would there be any point running it on the higher octane fuels or will standard 95 still do the same job. I norm just put in whats nearest to me tesco 95 and its cheap

I can't see high octane fuel making any difference. Use whatever it recommends in the manual.

Sounds like a good deal you got there.

Nope I run mine on completely standard Tesco Fuel and its absolutley fine. Went through a stage of sticking Super in it, but it made absolutely no difference to performance or fuel economy!

Depends on the car. My clio 172 Cup specified in the manual to run on 98 RON only so thats what I did... apart from just once. Couldn't get any super unleaded so went for regular, car spluttered and took about 5 attempts to start. If it recommends 98 RON then go for that. For the very small difference it has to be worth it?

I would be a little worried from Evans Halshaw, not the best of dealers and every car spat out of them in my experience gave problems for Land Rovers.

They were even in the local paper because they ignored some old guy who bought british only cars and they made him change his mind after buying his last defender from them and then about 13 complaints came in o.o ...

Gratz on the car though, hopefully be a smooth car!
