I would be a little worried from Evans Halshaw, not the best of dealers and every car spat out of them in my experience gave problems for Land Rovers.

They were even in the local paper because they ignored some old guy who bought british only cars and they made him change his mind after buying his last defender from them and then about 13 complaints came in o.o ...

Gratz on the car though, hopefully be a smooth car!

Its the 3rd car i will have off them and never had a prob so touchwood i'll be ok and there service is very good someone scrached my current car 2 days after i bought it went to get a quote to fix it and they did it there and then with no charge.

None of which have any kind of guarantee with them, especially from ebay.

Maybe he didn't want the TT cos he doesn't like the look of them?

Maybe he didn't want the CTR, because insurance could be an issue and the new CTR is just around the corner so it would be pointless.

Maybe he didn't want a BMW cos he's not looking for a family car?

have a roll eyes back for the "what makes these people tick" comment

Just been looking on autotrader and near me there is a 9 month old ST with 4,700 miles on the clock, Focus ST look a like 17" alloys, full leather, over the roof stripes for £10,000  Thats over £4,000 off the list price (with the metalic paint, stripes etc..)

As awesome as that car is, it's really not the sort of thing thats going to appeal to someone who wants a chuckable hot hatch. It's a totally different sort of car!

For a warm hatch he's not done half bad, sure there are better cars out there but there are many worse. The only remotely suitable thing you posted was the Civic Type-R.

We always get this. Everyone knocking someone for buying new, and then comparing what he could have had second hand.

If we keep putting people off buying new, there wont be any second hand cars!

I aint knocking him. Just saying. If you post on a public forum that you are getting a new car what do people expect? 30 posts of "good for you"? Be a bit boring don't you agree? No, people will put forward their opinions and in my opinion i would have gone for a 9 month old example and saved £4,000... and i wouldn't have had to have waited for it. But thats me. And the OP isn't me so he can do what he likes with his money.

My GF bought a brand new Zetec S 9 months ago. She could have saved 2-3k if she'd have waited but the new shape fiesta was only just out. No 2nd hand examples available and she didn't want the previous mk 6 one as the interior is horrid. So she bought new.

Currently saving up for a new VW Polo S you see...

Don't do it. Why scrimp and save to buy... a bottom of the range Polo? Why not aim for something decent? Perhaps a low mileage Polo GTI?

Ah, glad I found this thread. At the moment I have an 05 plate ST and was thinking of changing it for a facelifted model.

Evans Halshaw in Chester are doing the following for me with:

Met paint
Privicy glass
Side stripes
Spare remote key

£11270

Haven't given the green light yet, not sure about the interior tbh. Blue dash looks a bit, erm, strange and I can only have the grey dash with full leather (£750 - way too much considering the seats are already half leather).

Not sure what to do :(
