Fiesta ST?

i kept up with a 172 around Snetterton for a good 10-15 laps, they aren't that much faster, what he gained on the straights, I murdered him in the corners. But then who knows if he was giving it real beans?

A little more class and refined feel??? Rightttttt.......

When compared to the Clio, absolutely. The clio is just a lump of nasty plastic ontop of a 2L engine, at least some thought went into the fiesta. I deal with both on a regular basis and trust me, the fiesta ages better, although it does rust faster

Yep exactly Fox. And since it's something nippy for a girl to drive around town etc, the Fiesta is definately the better choice. Had it been for track days or back road blasts then yes, the clio would have been better.

He/She was either not giving it 'the beans', in the wrong gear, a rubbish driver or all of the above. A Clio would murder it on the corners and leave it for dust on the straights.

Congrats to OP though. You clearly had your heart set on the ST.

Looks really nice for the cash, who cares which is faster theres always a bigger fish, some people think going faster than the next person is the be all and end all, enjoy the car its better built and has a hell of a lot nicer interior than the 172

It's not really about being faster, it's about being a nicer car to drive in general. The fact that it's quicker is just a handy side effect of being lighter and having a more powerful engine.

The Fiesta is the nicer car to be in when it's not moving.
The 172 is the nicer car to be in when it is.

:)

I think it would be my choice if i went for a smaller hatch, to me the clios just look abit 'meh' now, certainly dated.

Although the ST isn't all that quick, it looks the part :)

I enjoyed my Performance Blue 05 ST whilst I had it, was lots of fun on B roads, and was reasonably economical as well.

Only thing I don't like about the prefacelifted cars is the digital fuel gauge and the horrible 3 tier cd player which not much in the way of iPod connectivity!

Jesus, will people stop banging on about RS Clio's. They are old hat now! and thats coming from a cup owner. Good for circa 3k, anything more get a better car!

Nice car and imo a bargain!

Read your post, its a bit daft so I posted a daft reply.

I have read it, and it's not daft at all - I suspect you're just being argumentative for the sake of it.

A car that has a nice interior, but when you drive along crashes over bumps, handles like a barge, has a top speed of 50mph, has a rackety diesel engine, etc - is NOT a nice place to be in.

I didn't think it was that difficult a concept to grasp, clearly I was mistaken.

Even the one that won the Top Gear hot hatch megatest (The RS 200)?

I had a drive in one of those and it was awesome - just a bit too small for my requirements - otherwise I'd have got one of them instead of the RS 250.

I still dont grasp it to be honest, what are you talking about! Which car is it exactly that drives as you describe above with a diesel engine!?

It was an extreme example to describe the concept of a car having a nice interior, yet being horrible to drive.

The Fiesta ST has a nicer interior than the Clio, but isn't as nice to drive.

Are you always this slow on the uptake?
