Fifa 12: PC Will Get “Impact Engine”

I love playing FPS on consoles, and even i admit that i'm playing with an inferior player interface.

But its a sacrifice i'm willing to make in order to take advantages of the benefits a console offers.

Still, I hope this isn't true. Most of the reporters have said that the PC version will use the same engine but one or two say otherwise. From a forum, someone asked EA on Twitter and got these replies:

RomilyBroad:
@SEGAAwakens We'll try to clear up the confusion soon.

Romily Broad:
@SEGAAwakens Sometimes reporters get things wrong

We'll have to wait until July to find out.

I don't know how to pirate a game for the xbox, but i do for the pc, i don't know anyone that has a pirate xbox either but i know loads of people that pirate on the pc.

I don't think anyone is saying piracy doesn't happen on consoles, but i don't think you have to stretch your imagination too far to see that piracy happens more on pc than on the consoles.

You have the pc market, the smallest market going, but with the biggest % on piracy. I guess they see the potential profit from pc gamers as more of a risk, and businesses don't like risk.

Also, i've never seen more whingers in my life. Every thread in pc games is always whinging about something. Take MW2 for example, they anounce no dedicated servers and 50% of people cancel their orders and protest the game, even though it worked perfectly fine (in fact a lot better for a casual gamer like me, which most gamers nowadays are) and is one of the most played pc games there is.

Listen to yourself, why should any PC gamer support something that removes features and expectations that games managed to do better back in the late 90's. It is now 2011 so we should expect game designers to push the PC and fully support modders. Not restrict us and charge us for poor designed maps or even worse. Charge us for maps that were in the previous game. Game publishers just love you though Valentino, typical sheep.

I still class Fifa as a console game.

It's the only game I have for my 360 and I only play it when friends come over before going out. Just nice to be able to 'pick up and play' that sort of thing in front of the TV instead of crowding round a PC.

Can see why people without a console would be annoyed with an inferior version for PC though.

Looks like I'll be having to invest in a PS3 again! :( uchhh.

Which is exactly what EA hope people will do so that they eventually end up with one less platform to support, which equals less outlay on their part.

Pc sales will be around 5-10% of the numbers on the 360 or PS3, so the profit, if any, doesn't justify the financial cost of development & aftersales support.

removing things like this encourage piracy

if im forced to get Fifa on the console i will make sure i get a 2nd hand copy

just as bad to the developer as piracy anyway

It's because fifa sells huge so releasing the same as good version on pc could potentially = lost sales due to piracy.Pc piracy is 100x easier to do than console piracy.I am pointing out the obvious but I just think this is the real reason why the pc version is neglected.

ermmmm, WRONG!

Once your console (use the 360 as an example) is flashed all you need to do is download games, burn to disc and play. Flashing is easy, takes 15-20 mins including taking 360 apart.

The wii, is a little harder, due to needing individual files etc but once setup, works extremely easily that even my wife could now do it.

The PC, easy to download, but the number of issues you can get with viruses, patches, dodgy downloads etc can be a nightmare.

The real reason the PC version is neglected is MONEY! That's all that matters, it makes the world go round. Develop for the a console and it has one setup, PC, 100's of variations requiring testing and patching etc. Even if you spent all that time developing for the PC my betting is console sales would be a lot higher than PC anyway.

Companies can blame piracy all they like, but consoles are easier overall to develop for and have good sales. That is really all that matters.

oh ffs only just noticed this thread. WHY oh why can't they make fifa exactly the same on PC as they do on the xbox?

it's literally the ONLY reason i have an xbox anymore, i don't play anything on it except for fifa.

Stick with PES.

Why oh why are pc gamers shafted all ****ing time. My friends are always telling me that consoles have better graphics, that an FPS is better with a controller, that consoles are more powerful.

How can I prove them wrong when people like EA are bending pc gamers over and raping them?

Well, you can prove them wrong about the better graphics, FPS being more enjoyable and a console being more powerful than a PC, quite easily..:D

I disagree from what I can see you have to constantly update things patch things etc etc not to mention many models requiring soldering or have dvd drives that aren't even flashable etc etc etc your average Joe isn't going to be able to do all that or be bothered with it.
For example my 360 slim is not flashable not to mention microsoft do actually ban flashed consoles from live. How many millions do you think download pc games on torrent sites nzb sites and so on ? I would imagine the number is a lot higher than consoles.I agree that it is also part due to console games potential sales dwarf pc sales but a large chunk of that is still people downloading Fifa 11/12 instead of buying it.

Console piracy is far more niche than pc piracy imo is all I am saying.
