Fifa 13

Well surely value of a game is rated against the market value compared to similar products. For example, would you pay £100 for a copy of FIFA? £200? If not, why not?

When you compare it to the price of the console versions, then remove the fact that PC gamers don't have to pay royalties, can't trade the game in, have to put up with Origin, and how EA don't care about support then it really is just a £30 game, absolute absolute tops.

I probably will end up paying for a key from some site to put into Origin for around £25. And i'll consider that very good value for both me and EA. I pay what I think is fair, and EA get around what they deserve for the game. :)

And £45 is a similar priced game compared to many pc games.

go and take a look at diablo 3, COD games and Guild wars 2 for examples of £45 pc games.

Diablo 3 I got for £26 about a week after release and I thought that was about fair for that too, although you could argue it's better developed than FIFA.

COD is a very bad example - that series has been overpriced tat since the first MW. You essentially pay £45 to have your progress reset and a small SP campaign! :D

GW2 is a difficult one as it's an MMO and as such, has a (theoretically) limitless development cycle. I guess time will tell with that one, but if I had to buy it now i'd still be sticking to that £30 limit.

[Edit] Thinking about it, COD is actually a good example as it's a game that gets small updates every year like FIFA. But FIFA isn't overpriced tat - it's just overpriced unless you buy from a key site.

Just looked on Origin, it's £45!

£45 for a game that EA won't bother supporting once they have your money, £45 for a game that forces you to use Origin, £45 for a game that will still have laggy online multiplayer and people quitting when they're losing and nothing being done about it.

Yeah, alright, deal. :D

I'd give them £25 for it, and that's even a stretch, it's worth more like £20.

Confusing post. Fifa 12 had a few update patches after they had my money and the game ran lag-free for me from the start.

Oh well, that's alright then. As long as it worked for you, I guess there's absolutely no problem at all.

[Edit] I give up. It's like being in the football forum. It's your money - if you think it justifies £45 then go right ahead.

Diablo 3 wasnt £26 on the normal places like GAME/HMV etc etc. if you got yours from amazon etc then please compare fifa 13 prices in the same manner because in amazon and some cd key places, you can get fifa 13 for around £30 mate.

Also, COD is a perfect example of how great fifa is in terms of value for money because as u say, in cod u get a 4 hour campaign and a few maps for MP and thats it. a game in which many will get bored after a month or two of playing. Fifa in the other hand contains many gameplay options, various gameplay tweaks etc etc and many who play fifa play for more then just a couple of months but till the next fifa comes out.

its about how much time u spend on fifa that determins if £45 is a rip off. If you play it for say 4-5 hours a week for almost a year, then that is money well spent as not many games you would be playing that amount of hours before u get bored of it.

Oh well, that's alright then. As long as it worked for you, I guess there's absolutely no problem at all.

You make it sound as if fifa doesnt work for no one. Yet me and others have pointed out we do not have any lag issues or anything.

You also make it sound as if every other pc game is bug free! Diablo 3 for instance was a mess when it first came out. people couldnt log into the system for weeks.

Guild wars 2 has issues too. Last saturday, the email authentication system was screwed and no one could authenticate there email address. Toss in the occasional lag issues etc, it makes Fifa look even better.

So please, if u do not like coughing up £45 for a game you may put 1000hours in then fine, dont buy it, buy something else. buy a game like max payne 3 for £30 that will last u a couple of weeks before your done with it.

i dont know about you but i price stuff based on amount of usage and enjoyment and £45 is a freaking bargain for a footy game imo.

i can think of a lot of things that are MORE pricer and offer less for me.

By all means if fifa offers u less pounds per hour/enjoyment, look elseware. buy something else.

Developers work freaking hard to make games for us. they are very talented and many dont earn as much as they should.

Agree with Tute, this game is not worth anything more than £15. £45 is taking the ****. Fifa 13 is essentially Fifa 12 with one or two new token features, not a new game at all, the developers dont work hard at all, just a bunch of lazy ones who rehash the same old buggy scripted game and call it a new game every year. EA makes bucketloads of money every year and still doesn't bother making a decent game and insults us by putting a silly pricetag.

Also the lag issue is very common, I actually can't play any 1v1 games due to lag, its unbearable hence why i have only played 20 or so head to head season matches, its virtually unplayable, and in the first 3 months I had unbearable lag in any teamplay matches, awful awful cheap*** servers they use.

Personally I will only buy this game if it sells for around £15 somewhere and thats only for the Club mode, the rest is poop. Such a shame Pro Evo doesnt have a club mode as the game itself this year is great.

If you think only one or two things change :o I hear this argument every year, anyone who actually invests significant time into these games realizes there are literally changes going into the hundreds and a majority of them in gameplay. Simply adding a new dribbling mechanic can change the game ten fold as an example, but there many subtle changes people who don't play the game regularly will simply not notice.

This just doesn't apply to FIFA but every sports game I can think of.

They have something similar for PES (Pro Clubs/Team Play) although not anywhere near as structured as in FIFA it's just random matches without being able to form a club and get a record going.

fifa 12 for me was unplayable before midnight every game was vs a laggy kid I am done with the game methinks. It's looking so dated now it looks identical to fifa 12 lol at all the sheep that are buying fifa 13 hope it doesn't lag and have bugs that aren't fixed for ages like fifa 12 but I doubt it.

No more grinding out profit for ultimate team is a relief for me,spent more time trading than actually playing what a waste of time.

I just think in general I am bored of this console generation bring on the 720 and ps4 already.

people who say fifa 12 didn't lag have no idea what lag is or simply played late at night when for the most part the lag was bearable but most people wouldn't notice input delay lag if it came and bit them.

If you are going to have a football game lag is a big no no and for me this will be the exact same again ie the servers overloaded and most of the player base being kids on shared laggy family connections good riddance fifa.

And don't get me started on momentum.

Gosh, this thread is lively all of a sudden. :D

The best deal at the moment I can find is with Tesco entertainment. Seems to be the standard edition though.

£22.01 when usng the 15PREORDER code and maybe another 8% off through quidco bringing it down to £20.

The dev's can only do so much with the time constraint they have. Anyone expecting a 'new game' is unrealistic. That will only come with the next-gen consoles. And you can bet your last dollar the next-gen version will be console exclusive for four or five years and we pc gamers will be left with the current gen version again.

Agree with the lag though. Some people seem more affected by it.

The demo is only a week away to base a judgement on what tweaks they have done.

Mentioning PES is irrelevant as they can't be arsed to include a club mode.

Thanks. It won't let me use the code though.

[EDIT] Oh, it's expired.

Aye, it has expired. Should have checked it before posting it.

You can still get 8% off through quidco/topcashback.

But you would expect to get a cheaper deal with the UT or club edition from a cd key website.

£25 in sainsburys for pre-order but like most im gonna wait for a cheaper key as im gonna have this on the xbox anyway. Any good places to get cheap xbox live gold membership? mine ran out 3 months ago!

are u high?

Fifa 12 gameplay was changed quite a bit from fifa 11. impact engine springs to mind.

Some game modes changed too including a brand new head to head seasons mode never done before.

Sort out your dodgy connection before slating fifa :)

O and please shhh about devs being lazy. u got no ****ing clue whatsoever how hard software devs work especially in the game industry. if u had a ny clue you wouldnt be saying rubbish like that. Sorry too attack u but im a dev and i know how the software industry works.

are u high?

He is always high .... on lemonade.

They're always going to improve the gameplay. People have commented that it's harder, but a more pleasing experience. This is what I want.

All the hands on test's I've read and watched from hardcore fifa players have said the game is more fluent and some have commented it's based more on a passing game in their opinion.

Sure, there will still be some annoying issues but if it is a significant improvement, that is all we can hope for.

If it is a slight improvement, it will be a bit meh.

Well it was you trying to justify £40/45 that started this in the first place. :p

Thousands of people blindly pay whatever Activision ask for a new COD game and then play it for hours every day. You could argue that it's justified for them but I don't - I think it's very lazy design and programming.

You're paying upto £50 to essentially have your progress reset and a few new maps.

its about how much time u spend on fifa that determins if £45 is a rip off. If you play it for say 4-5 hours a week for almost a year, then that is money well spent as not many games you would be playing that amount of hours before u get bored of it.

Well no, as I said it's market forces that determine prices. In this case, i'm using the console prices as a starting point and going from there. EA cannot possibly justify charging £10 less for the PC version when you can't trade it in and there are no royalties to pay. Also the consoles are generally less buggy than the PC version and to me, that's worth something as well. Hence how i'm coming to £25-30.

You make it sound as if fifa doesnt work for no one. Yet me and others have pointed out we do not have any lag issues or anything.

I haven't said that at all but then if you think there's no problems because your PC is fine then there's little I can do.

So please, if u do not like coughing up £45 for a game you may put 1000hours in then fine, dont buy it, buy something else. buy a game like max payne 3 for £30 that will last u a couple of weeks before your done with it.

I'll pay what I feel a game is worth. I've explained this above.

Developers work freaking hard to make games for us. they are very talented and many dont earn as much as they should.

You could pay £100 for FIFA and EA wouldn't give any more of it to their developers. It'd go straight to the shareholders so they can continue to ruin franchises like C&C.
