Fifa 13

Just played a few games and as I expected its awfully the same and the new features are typical FIFA trademark gimmicks.

First touch - really inconsistent in the way it works and unrealistics, for example I passed a simple nicely weighted ball to my left back who was in space with no opposition players around and he had the touch of a rapist and just fumbled the ball out of play, totally bizarre. Then theres the fact that the first touch seems to work in favor of the opposition, many times the cpu opposition would control the ball badly but the ball would drift into space opposite of where my player is and he would just run with the ball in space and attack, only once did the cpu's touch let him down and allowed me to get the ball back. It's gimmick like the impact engine.

Intelligent AI - or whatever they call it where your CPU players are meant to make clever forward runs into space etc, not once did they players do any meaningful runs, many a times I would get the ball in midfield waiting to spray it to the wingers, but none of them run or look for space, they just stand or jog statically, the only player who would run is one of the forwards and a totally useless run it was, all they do is run in a straight line in the same position from slightly deep. Friggin useless.

I noticed no other significant differences to FIFA 12 in gameplay, the graphics in 13 are very blurry and odd too. Straight after I played the demo I went and played PES 13 Demo 1 and my is it so much better, the AI intellgence in PES is miles ahead the CPU players have actual intelligence where they make various different runs and movements, and the game is so much more dynamic and fun, shame the defending side is so poop or maybe I'm just crap at it.

To sum for me its the same old FIFA tripe, and they will continue to make such rubbish as the blind sheeps flock to buy them being fooled by the bogus marketing, so long as people buy them EA will never make any real improvements to it and just con people with gimmicks. But I blame PES for being so crap over the years for this.

Yes the demo has windowed mode! If that stays till the final version it is an instant buy for me. Feature that 12 was lacking. I love playing fifa whilst watching iplayer in the other corner.

Certainly isn't newly compiled. Santi Carzorla isn't playing for Arsenal.

I like people that talk sense :).

Hmm, I am not too sure what to make of it. It seems more fluid, definitely. But, I am not sure it improves things as great as EA are making out. Sure, the ball feels a bit looser at the players feet, but I wouldn't go as far to say that this feels like a whole NEW game, worthy of being distinct and separate from FIFA 12. To me it feels like FIFA 12 with a few tweaks here and there. Definitely not worth the price tag which EA are asking.

I'll still reserve judgement, since this is only a demo, but feels like a bit of a 'CoD' milking to me.

Wonder how close to the final build this is.

Having played the demo more, i'm spending more time with the skill games, than the actual match.

Fifa 12 demo also had window mode but they took it out of the final version to prevent "cheats".

Judging by last years demo this will be pretty much close to the final build. I've played a few more games and the first touch just gets more random and one frustrating thing is when the CPU makes a bad touch in the box and you jump in front to get the ball or make slight barge the refs gives pen. Also I tried the game on intemediate mode and the Intelli AI works much better it seems, attackers make more runs forward, albeit still very static straight forward runs. I've also found nicking the ball of the player as a defender is slightly more easy, which is either a good thing or bad.

Managed to fix the odd graphics issue I had by locking the FPS to 60 frames, and it is much smoother and clearer now.

On a positive note, the skill games is quite fun, but I would expect the novelty to wear off after you've played them a few times, and the soundtrack is much better than last years.

The game though certainly is not worth the price they are going for, its basically Fifa 12 + Patch update, I would hesitate to spend even a tenner on it let alone £45!

I think they have confirmed the final version will have the windowed mode.

Off course they will wear off quick, especially when/if you hit the gold level.

I can't get higher than bronze level though on any of them - wait a minute that'll be because it's the demo ...

How can you play Fifa and watch TV at the same time?

Plays perfect for me but as expected using a keyboard is awful. :p

EDIT it's actually quite good using the mouse for it, aiming where to place passses it pretty good i'm going to try get used to it, suprised an 8800GT can run it at highest with max AA at 1080p.

I was half expecting to see Van Persie still playing for them.

I downloaded the demo last night and didn't feel any huge difference from Fifa 12?

I always get this game on PS3 but I think it might be an idea to get it on PC this time, is ultimate team version on PC also?
