Can I ask what might be a stupid question?

What are the actual chances of getting a 'top' player (to go all 'Arry Redknap on you) like Messi, Aguero, Ibra, Robben, Ronaldo et al?

Is it the more packs you open the higher the chance is, or is it a flat chance per pack?

I'm still struggling to make coins, but I've started playing single player seasons to try and get back to being half decent at this.
 
Limped into division 6 last night by winning my last game to get promotion. I am really struggling against lobbed through balls, conceded about 8 goals last night of which 7 were lobbed through balls and my defenders all either step up or just stop dead. I can sometimes defend it if I manually run one of my players way back but you can't do that every time they have the ball.

What can I do? What's more annoying is that my through ball completion is awful, lobbed or along the deck. Most of the time the pass doesn't even go in the direction I'm pressing.

Also, when I'm clear through a lot of the time the defender managers to slow me down from behind so much I end up losing the ball. Not sure how it's never a foul. How do you do it?

Lobbed through balls are a problem not much you can do other than have fast defenders or go defensive as for being defenders slowing your striker it's just press B or O and he pulls the players shirt sometimes they give fouls depends how much you do it.

I play defensive mentality. Helps as the full backs are in line with the CBs and tend to have the pace to recover
 
Ok.

I'm really struggling to understand why you guys have such problems with through balls when to me, the MASSIVE evil in this heap of horse**** game is crossed, but especially corner headers. Its just ridiculous...!! I can play great football the entire game but I seem to conceed corner headers an insane amount despite some of my teams having massive heading ability + all over 6ft tall. Its just such a bugged crap game, it really is.

Its not even the fact the headers going in that completely ******* me off but more the fact the defenders are so glitched that they don't even try to jump for it...how can EA release this crap is beyond me?

To me...Fifa 13 had issues, especially with scripting against silver teams, but at least it was free flowing/exciting rather than this slow paced cross/slow build up/heading ********* which they have now created..... I usually think fifa fut is a cool game to mess around with if i've got a fair few hours but seriously..i've conceeded 50 headers this week off corners...with all different teams....its a joke! please tell me you guys are noticing this too?

I felt Fifa 13 had some annoying gamestyles but you did find different styles actually worked. In Fifa 14 there is two ways to play... 1) extremely slow with side/backwards passing as if you are some demented barcafanboy, or 2) Play the crossing game and "EA" your opponents. The 2nd is far more effective!

I couldn't give a crap if someone lobs a pass through with ibarbo to score but seriously!!! this corner crap is NOT fixed and feels exactly the same on both ps3+ps4, and from admittedly more limited gametime, its the same on xbox one too.

Oh and messi is crap robert! sell him for ronaldo asap :D

Sorry for grumpy mood guys but why do i waste money on packs to play this ****. I must be utterly bonkers. I'm just sick of it..75th minute...3-1 ahead...then 2 **** shots lead to corners and both go in, 3-3 , gg , EA'd .... arrrrrrgh :mad: but theres no point me isolating this because i'm sure it'll happen again 10 times or more in the next week!

Seriously don't buy packs - you don't really need to.

Headers can sometimes be stopped its about backing into player and hitting button at correct time - but sometimes you cannot

Stop them crossing is important close the wing down quickly

I find annoying the pull back spam when you get clear - seems to be overpowered and cannot negate it - was funny last night someone was doing it all the way into the box and for the first time I got a penalty...... EA really need to tone this down or be more strict on it....

He isn't crap, he is just weak. Plays better as CF as a false 9 I have found.

Classic Barca. :p As you can see, Messi's rating compared to everyone else. He does make a difference.

Then I came up against this team.

Messi did nothing for him so he subbed on Reus and Reus scored on his very first touch then scored a few minutes later. I managed to win 3-2 but when Reus came on, I should have lost 3-5 as he had some good chances with him.

I think it depends on the referee. I pulled once on a players shirt and the ref immediately stopped it and sent my guy off. When in other games I have had the opposition drag my player back and pushed him away and nothing, not even a free kick.

Either it's the referee or the game is bugged/glitching.

You hardly ever get punished for it, which was why I was surprised after a slight tug he sent my guy off, not inside the box either.
 
I've been pulled back and nothing has happened but then I touch someone with my finger tip and get sent off. Also, the impact engine needs re-thinking. If a player gets powerbombed but isn't a player input but just a weird ass animation that effects the other player, the ref does nothing. It looks silly watching players get floored with no reaction because of the way the impact engine works.

I think Fifa 15 will have some really big changes made to it... or even Fifa World Cup 14.
 
I wonder if messi's best use on fut would be as a left cam I. 4-2-2-2, cutting in on his good foot but with enough space for strength to be less significant.

Reus seems great this year... Much improved because of work rate and to me anyway, he seemed surprisingly stronger than expected and still very fast...I had real problems with Ronaldo again for the same reason as last year really...Spanish league :( he's kind of a waste at LM and totally not ideal with high/low workrates either, and I'm really not keen on him as an LW because it's so isolated and to be effective, you have to play in an almost criminally sweaty way. Formations for LF this year are insanely limited now too...I hate 3-4-2-1, 4-3-2-1 seems very hard to play defensively AND it's pretty crap for hybrids too imo..and of course they changed/killed 5-2-2-1 :rolleyes:

I sold him in the end and got Zlatan and a load of others...I'm convinced Zlatan is the best card on this game but Ronaldo would be if he was an ST. You used to be able to get 7 chem on Ronaldo as a CF last year with good chem but now you get 2 :( such a shame as Ronaldo was the best card on the game last year by miles IMO but strength has really taken over this year...as we all know!

Its due to his height and strength, the engine favours taller stronger players Ibra > Messi. It's always been that way in fifa.

I don't think they know how to change it either.

He could work as a CAM in a 4222, but why spend 1 million on a CAM when someone like Menez or Di Natale can do a brilliant job there for less than 50K?

I don't understand why EA have deemed Messi 92 pace either, it must be just to give him the highest rating possible whilst keeping his heading and defending low. If he is 92 pace then a lot of other players have been grossly misjudged in the pace department.

EA are morons though so they will never get this game right.

I just played normally with it. David Luiz was effectively a CDM and the wing backs were more LM/RM. I played on attacking mentality with that formation, worked alright and was exceptional fun. I didn't get many messages calling me a 5 at the back **** either so must have been OK :D :D.

Gonna start playing again now I can stream again via capture card. Time to bring some pain to Robert, Suarez, ps3ud0, Neil and co. In reality I'll get tonked! :D
