I was actually having fun with UT last night, until my last game. The guy started the game and passed it straight to his back 4. Then just kept passing it around the back. I'd start putting pressure on to try get the ball then boom massive 60 yard through ball to Neymar who just zoomed onto as my defence had moved forward. 1 goal to him. It was clear he was just watching the radar and waiting for my defence line to move forward then again he would do a massive through ball to Neymar again and he would score.

I honestly have no idea what I could have done in this game. If I sat as Ultra D even at the start and apply no pressure it just would have been 90mins of him passing it around his back 4. Yet any pressure was just crucified by a massive long through ball from his back to his fast ST :( really did annoy me. After the 3rd goal I just put the control pad down and walked off really wasn't even worth trying to come back.

let him pass it about - he will attack eventually unless he's winning. once he got the first goal you played right into his hands.

or just quit the game.

He wasn't though seriously. Before he even scored his first goal he was passing around the back 4 for pretty much the first 30mins of the game. Not once did it go to the midfield, unless one of my players was close to intercepting a pass to a CB or close to tackling. It then went to one of his midfielders the back to one of the 4 back. At the time I was hesitant to put pressure, but then when I did I just got crucified for it.

I think I will just put it down to one duff player/game. But I just don't see how people get enjoyment out of playing games like that.

that's because he knew you would eventually break, i've played a guy like this before apart from all he did was safe passes.

sideways and backwards, he didn't have a single shot at goal but he did have like 70%+ possession.

i let him pass it about until eventually i got so mad i just said **** it and pressed him, but that was playing right into his hands, luckily my defence is solid so i won the ball when he eventually attacked and i scored.

after that i won the ball back without pressing as he had to now press for a goal when he realised i wasn't going to do it after i had gone a goal up and when i got the ball i just played safe passes.

afterwards he messaged me saying i got lucky and that i was a noob. i asked him why he never attacked and he said he plays that way to frustrate opponents into opening up.

it's a style of playing the game barcelona do it in real life all the time and people regarded their playstyle as the best in the world for many years, in fact spain also dominated with a similar style with the same players.

you need to make a decision are you playing to win or are you playing just to take part (the enjoyment)?

if your playing to win then you need to know how to counter all playstyles and formations.

if your playing for fun then just quit and find another game.

it's probably the best all rounder formation in the game

4231 is also very good (i prefer the version with 3 CAM's)

as is 433 (very attacking unless you play possession football)

as are 5 at the back with attacking mentality.

there is no right or wrong formation, find one which suits your style of play 41212 is an all rounder formation, it does everything evenly. 1 CDM, 1 CAM, 2 wide men and 2 strikers.

2 strikers make a big difference when attacking they can pull players out of position and then play in the other striker.

3 forwards is even better at pulling players out of position but then your lacking elsewhere. 41212 has no obvious weakness, it's the most well rounded formation in the game.

Yea I guess you’re right. It just confused me as hell since every game before that was a sweaty high pressure players which I have no problem dealing with and just requires a bit faster reaction times to that game. Where the player just barely did anything. It's the first time I have ever come across someone doing that, it kind of took me by surprise.
 
i hate ball hoggers, possibly because i'm the complete opposite of a ball hogger. i play constant forward passes and constantly attack whenever i have the ball.

i usually always have less than 50% possession because i try and force attacks, but i usually also win.

that is my play style, i attack constantly, which means i don't have much possession due to me losing the ball whilst doing risky forward/attacking passes, i find sideways passing and safe passes boring, i play to attack and score, not to keep possession.

i detest possession players they are so boring imo.

very much like boxing and mma, i prefer the attacking fighters to counter punchers and distance fighters.
 
I like possession football, especially in slow teams but I never pass around the back four

I also LOVE counter punchers. Mayweather in boxing or Machida in MMA

Each to their own I suppose :)

Ibra is the second best player in the game. Behind only NIF Ronaldo :)

I'll be honest, I find radu radiant Maicon better cbs than their backups.

And candreva is a total beast. Best player out of all!

Also de jong and cambiasso seem to do considerably better than their counterparts

His scoop turns are broken. Because he's so tall the distance they go is ridiculous. The game engine can't handle it the defenders sometimes completely spack out.

I ain't played since Saturday. Not missing it at all but I will play some tonight.
