Oh I dont disagree, I just think some people think that skilling automatically unlocks another level of playing better (= winning more) when really its normally more of a hindrance than a help because the reward:fail aspect is so biased to fail, especially with the nerfs theyve had to add to counteract the easier execution of skills...

Just use them in game. No need for many, as Pseudo says, most players who skill are awful. They do three or four flicks in front of the defender, don't get past him, then give the ball away.
The only ones I find useful are those which help you move forwards or turn fast, ie roulette, heel to heel flick, and McGeady spin. I rarely touch any of the others.
Edit: Pseudo, are you still on the PS3, or have you upgraded? If you're PS3ing, we need another game sometime

I hated 13 because the introduction of first touch was bizarre compared to how the game dealt with other things like skills and momentum (you could pretty much skill at any point yet cant cushion a 1 yard pass). It was pretty much a jarring addition that didnt sit right with the rest of the engine.
14 attempts to rectify that in the best EA way possible ('lets just lower the bar') by basically ruining everything else so that first touch isnt the most obvious annoyance when its played - pace doesnt matter til you play other humans
I also absolutely detest the attacking AI bias added in 13 (and the removal of defense lock on) purely because it seems to lead to artificial gameplay with major passing exploits now available - it does mean goals galore but it rarely means you are a better player because you can score more in this iteration...
Anyway I have my views on FIFA post-13, I think I bored enough people last year with them! I find 14 better than 13 purely because more aspects of it have been ruined more fairly...

Skillers make me laugh, half the time they perform the same skill over and over again near the centre circle to no real effect.

Lars is clearly the better bender
Want to grab him to play in a 4-4-2 (2) with his brother. My midfield will be rather bent
. Not sure if him or Gustavo will be best. Like the better passing and H/H work rates of Bender but Gustavo is faster and the M/H work rates might work out better.
I have Song - Modric - Hernanes but obviously you are not hybrid ding, personally in your position I would go.

Song really works well there, IMO you really need a M/H CM as you'll be very open otherwise, especially if you have Fullbacks who like to bomb up the wing or even if you have Ramos.
Modric at CAM works so well better than isco or fabregas he is always in position, Song is animal!! so cheap but a solid player I play 41212
