FIFA 21

My attitude towards TOTY this time around is there'll be no Brazilians, so it's kind of pointless in me trying. Currently have 1.2m in the bank, so maybe looking at getting Base R9 at some point for a laugh...
 
If there was no TOTY it would be pretty dead tbh.. game is in crying need for TOTY because there's just nothing to look forward to or play for.
 
Cleared my club of fodders to do the base/mid icon sbc.
Ended up with base veron fml. Now have base inzaghi and veron from 2 icon packs.
 
TOTY is good for crashing the market for us normies who can't afford the normal high end cards. Excluding those players in the TOTY of course.

Great for picking up high rated pack fodder for upcoming SBCs as well.

Game is pretty much dead a few weeks after that though and the weather is better so spend more time outside.

It's the same with FUTTIES in the summer, it's nice to try some 95 rated cards but it's all a bit pointless by that point.

Define dead? Not hugely fussed with WL so still plenty of games to be played, never had trouble getting matches.

As in, after that there's nothing left to look forward to and most are already playing other games until the next iteration. You're 8-9 months into the gamecycle and usually playing it less than you would be earlier in the year.

If you aren't playing WL much or at all then you're left with rivals which is awfully sweaty still in the higher divisions.

I just think at this point in the cycle, TOTY can be more beneficial even without aiming to get one of the cards due to what it does to the market. For example, you can hoard cards like Hazard etc for upcoming prime icon SBCs.

This year the playerbase seems to be dying off more quickly than usual. If you compare the FIFA 20 and 21 threads on here, there are twice as many posts in last years thread at the same point in the year. It's a lot quieter over on the official FUT forums as well.

March/April is usually where I go cold turkey and play other games or do something else.
My team is set for me to have fun and be considered competitive until then so I just do whatever floats my boat.
 
Trouble is, if you have a point where you consider the game dead, then you could argue there's no point playing much right before that as the game is almost dead. So then you can just keep moving that point further and further forward until it's not worth playing at all. Which is actually what I decided to do this year.
 
No red Ronaldo for me.

My mate got this for Xmas. His starting team is pretty basic and he’s in div 6. I noticed if we do coop rivals, it pairs us against players in my div, 2. I guess there is no way to change this even so we’re using his team? I know EA want to zap all fun out of this game but come on, coop is hard enough!

Nah, always gos by the highest ranked players Rivals division.

Realise it sucks, but its there to avoid cheesing you way to Rank 1 in higher divisions (ie I'm in Div 10, you're in Div 1, we use my team but you're a Division 1 player and steamroll the Divison 10 guys, get boatloads of Rivals points and cheese Rank 1)
 
Thats just there to suck away your PL rares before TOTY upgrades.

I did it as I plan on going HAM on packs so need to clear down the club, but for 90% of players its a bad move.
