I was expecting all the senior players to be involved but not the likes of Brewster, Jones, Elliott and Williams too. We really are going to be playing the under-15's vs Villa in the League Cup.

I'm honestly not sure myself but part of me would rather we went for the carabao cup but I know from a business perspective the club world cup will bring in far more money and it's something as a club we haven't one.

Anyway back on topic I expect us to win this considering the teams we will be facing so gutted if we don't

It's more than just from a financial pov. It's more prestigious to win and the League Cup's 2 legged semi final is a massive pain in the arse, coming off the back of a busy Xmas period. We don't have 2 x £40m players in every position like City - we have 2 specialist full backs at the club and very limited attacking cover, it would be a needless risk for our League hopes to take the League Cup seriously. If we weren't genuinely in with a chance of winning the title then fine, concentrate on the Cups but I couldn't care less about them this season. I'm sure Klopp is more than a bit annoyed at our FA Cup draw too, as he now almost has to play a fairly strong side.

I said before, I can see us treating this as a bit of a winter break. FIFA rules mean we have to travel out 3 days before the 1st game and with the standard of competition we're likely to face (particularly in the 1st game), it'll be a great chance to give a few key players a break. Ideally you'd like to go full strength in the final (assuming we make it) but I wouldn't be surprised if we see something similar to yesterday, with 3 or 4 key players being rested with one eye on Leicester on Boxing day.

Wijnaldum has travelled with the squad to Qatar so fingers crossed whatever caused him to come off yesterday is nothing serious.

A few of the kids that were named in the squad haven't travelled so I guess they'll play vs Villa and maybe fly out after.

An interesting 11 from us today:
--------------Alisson
Milner--Gomez--Hendo--Robbo
-------------Lallana
-----------Keita---Ox
------Salah--Origi--Shaqiri

No surprise that Klopp has taken the chance to rest a few players today but it does highlight how short we are at the back and with Henderson and Milner having to fill in there, we're now threadbare in central midfield too.
