FIFA International Friendlies ** spoilers ** [23rd - 29th March 2016]

Someone just phoned up 606 complaining about England's kit, they should not be playing in red.

Waddle ask's him what colour shirt England had on when they won the World Cup, caller replies white  :o.

Typical.

Anyway, only have 606 on for Waddle <3.

Remember when everyone was ecstatic when England beat Germany 5-1 in the 2002 world cup qualis, then during the world cup itself we got knocked out while Germany were runners up in the final. Yeah.. :D

Where we lost to Brazil 2-1. Who smashed Germany in the final. We had a fantastic chance that year regardless of where we finished. I am sure if we had Germany's route we would have gone far as well.

I don't know whether it is because I have gotten so used to watching van gaal united but I thoroughly enjoyed that game. One thing of note which harks back to the 90s is that we do not really have any big egos which IMO made the team suffer in the 00's.

The most enjoyable England game I have ever watched was the Euro 96 demolition job on Holland. Footballs coming home and all that feel good factor, supposed to be a close game and then we just walloped them.

I watched that game too. Shearer & Sheringham were unstoppable that day. Tonight's game was pretty close to that performance. I'm going to be realistic & the team won't play like that every game (wish they did :D) Future does look bright though.

Spurs also need to tie up the four they had in the team tonight to very big money long term contracts, as all four are worth a nine figure sum between them.

friendly, nothing to be excited about and seriously, the ref should have just put an england shirt on.

Apart from a close but incorrect call from the linesman, I'm not sure what decisions you think favoured England? And, yes, it's a friendly but we've played shockingly in plenty of those.

I only hope Rooney has seen his last competition cap. We're better without him.

Funny that, unbelievable what happens when Rooney isn't available. I know it wasn't just his replacement who did well, but overall the entire team looked much better.

Alli was brilliant this evening, so gutted he missed the open net; would've been awesome for him to get a goal.

Also, Jamie Vardy's having a party ;)

Did we all just enjoy an England game?

Yes we're going to win the euros!

No Vardy No Party [x]
Footballs coming home [x]

Getting too excited after a friendly win [ ]

Promised myself I wouldn't care this summer......dam it!

Edit: What did people think of the new kits they released?
Nike have done an awful job lately for USA and now England (the home is most tolerable)

Really god performance on the whole.

I'd replace llalana with Vardy and start that team in the euros. Not sold on Henderson but there's variety there with Drinkwater/Barkley/Wilshire.

Alli impressed again.

The German pundit on ITV summed it up - Rooney wasn't missed and if we stick with this young team they might come good in 2-4yrs given time, it's just a shame that rather than having intelligent debate about it they quickly changed the subject.

Barkley's issue is he's completely and painfully inconsistent. One game he scores a cracker from 25 yards and wins tackle after tackle, another he refuses to pass, holds on to the ball for ages before losing it and sucks defensively. The thing holding Barkley back from being a potentially great player is consistency, he's all over the place, for an international tournament inconsistency is a big problem.

Vardy is in disgusting form, way way better than Lallana, his finishing and movement is great but his work rate is insane. He'll close people better, win the ball more, pressure the opposition into errors, latch onto loose balls and help create chances all better than any other wide players we have by a mile.

I think one of the biggest things to do is find a replacement for Henderson, I can't remember which site said it but in summing up his performance they stated he seamlessly took over for Rooney in randomly screaming at other players for not doing something he himself wasn't doing either. There is something about having a guy like Rooney on the pitch being captain screaming at other players for a bad pass, shot, tackle or decision.... when he himself is the worst player on the pitch almost every game.

If we manage to not take Rooney, AOC or Walcott in the team, I don't think England would win but I think it would give better players a chance to have a tournament playing with the right players, the right mentality and start to build a team together for the future.

Rooney's presence probably off the pitch as well as on it, is bad, Walcott's attitude is dire and shouldn't be near the team and his ability on the pitch doesn't deserve to be anywhere near it. AOC... a player who actually makes Walcott look talented.

yep enjoyed last night's game but I would be very surprised if a German team, or Italian/French/Spanish team give up a 2 goal lead come the meaningful games.

That said we looked exciting going forward...

Calling it now, out in the quarters :p

I still refuse to get excited. I also think Rooney et al should be on the bench in case the likes of Vardy/Alli/Kane have a quiet game and/or are ineffective.

I mean come on, they're all very talented but this is still England! I won't be getting excited unless we boss the group.
