FIFA International Friendlies ** spoilers ** [23rd - 29th March 2016]

I still refuse to get excited. I also think Rooney et al should be on the bench in case the likes of Vardy/Alli/Kane have a quiet game and/or are ineffective.

I mean come on, they're all very talented but this is still England! I won't be getting excited unless we boss the group.
If Rooney is fit enough to be on the bench, he'll be starting the games.

Given last night and how he'll almost certainly be short of match fitness, I think that's mad.

I do think he has a lot left to offer but given current form it'd be madness not to start the attack from last night.

Why would you expect anything else? No matter how good any fringe players are performing England always always always revert to picking names for tournaments, I don't expect any different this year. I hope I'm wrong but I fully expect to see Rooney, Sterling etc. In the line-up if there is even a hint of match fitness, regardless of form.

rooney shouldn't go. england games i've watched in the past, players didn't want the ball or were too slow on the ball and i'm thinking that was down to the pressure rooney was putting on them mentally with his presence and maybe verbally off the pitch

remove the negative attitude that is wayne ''i'm the best'' rooney and let other players blossom

It would do everyone a massive favour if Rooney wasn't fit for the tournament.

Saves Roy the questioning and hassle from the media about dropping or picking his captain. Saves the squad the Rooney should he / shouldn't he play circus surrounding them and saves Rooney himself from ending up being the scapegoat should he play and England do poorly in the first couple of games.

Good game from England but I doubt we'll see a performance like that in the Euro's once injuries take out a couple of key players and the remaining players switch into holiday mode. Hope I'm wrong, of course.

If Rooney is fit he'll go and play, as he's the face/big name of English football. I doubt whether Hodgson has much say in the matter, tbh.

I await the inevitable pre-tournament hype wagon about how refreshing this young crop of players is yadayadayada.... May as well just save everyone the security fears and just give us the trophy now :)

While it was a decent performance last night, I still don't think the likes of Germany, France and Spain are going to be sat there bricking it in the dressing room before the match... "watch out lads, we're up against Hendo tonight!!"

So much negativity towards us. Anyone would think we lost.

We ditch the waste of space that is Wayne and have people who seemingly want to actually play for their Country and we get a good result.

I also agree Henderson should be dropped too.

Really needs to be a better way of calling offsides. They get it wrong so often.

Football needs to get with the times and send these kind of decisions to video replays just as other sports have done.

I would have thought Offside would be particularly amenable to automated, Hawk-Eye style, computer adjudication. I wonder whether anyone is looking into it?

I think the difficulty could be having the system differentiating between those who are active and those who are not. Definitely needs to be looked at though

While I won't disagree with the point you're making, I think the number of correct off-side decisions has increased massively in the past couple of seasons - certainly in the Premier League anyway.

So itv player isn't working. How do all these huge companies struggle to stream a game of football when you can find hundreds of dodgy streams that have 0 issues are are usually better quality.

I'm having to dodgy stream it just to get an HD picture, only get SD ITV and HD STV in Scotland on Virgin and it's not on STV :(
