FIFA World Cup 2014 - Final & 3rd Place Play-off [12th - 13th July] **spoilers**

a wing back was completely unmarked in the centre of Brazil's box.

That means a Brazilian fullback, winger, and central midfielder failed to mark him.

even a blind man finds the net against brazil

how was no one marking him from brazil's midfield?

Terrible, Luiz absolutely shouldn't have made that header, but the rest of the brazil team stopped outside the box, Blind didn't... woeful defending from what is pretty much three holding midfielders.

Difference between this game, aside from Brazil's defending, is that players like Blind are getting forward. It's not RVP, Robben 15 yards behind him, and everyone else another 20 yards back. They are getting 3-4 people into attacks which is crucial.

Holland could I'm absolutely certain have beaten the Argies if they actually tried to support the attack, Robben 6 touches and 1 pass in the first half... there was zero support and zero intent to attack. Had they tried the Argies weren't remotely good enough.

Worth pointing out this is 2-0 earlier than Germany managed it......... uh oh.

Another thumping for Brazil please. Feel sorry for LVG not getting to final.

I don't at all, horrendous tactics and absolute failure to identify the worst performers and replace them(Sneijder and Kuyt), Holland could have simply taken that game, and the two before it, and instead were too scared to try and win it, very weak managing and weak performances across midfield.

The irony is that if you play Luiz in defensive midfield and Dante in defence and you might have a defensive unit that would work. Luiz is far better in midfield than he is in defence, but the cover from the Brazilian midfield is a disgrace

what? LVG has been tactically superior to everyone with a limited squad missing a key player and changing formation 2 weeks before the start , Kuyt has had a great world cup Sneijder didn't start great but got better each game they don't exactly have a strong squad so can't complain

I don't rate Paulinho even slightly and Ramires is a thug and not much else but usually does actually get back to stamp on peoples legs. But Gustavo is good. They just aren't playing even slightly like a team. They don't even seem to know who they should be marking, which runs to mark. When Luiz has the ball the team runs forwards aimlessly leaving basically no passing options so he whacks a long diagonal which is almost always crap.

Supposedly Scolari doesn't actually do any training with the team. They don't feel at all like a team and I think that might have a lot to do with it, you don't have a lot of time with a national team, not being involved in training is... odd.

Holland were great against Spain (who were woeful) then the Dutch have just been as poor as every other team in this WC (apart from germany)

Sam Matterface needs to stop saying random stats and Clarke needs to just shut the **** up.

Kuyt has been completely and utterly awful, truly embarrassingly awful. Sneijder did not get better at any stage, he took 58 free kicks and hit the bar twice, that doesn't constitute improving that means he took so many he eventually hit the bar. He scored a goal, a pretty easy goal, his contribution over 90 minutes for every game was woeful.

he has not been tactically superior, player missing or not, he left Kuyt and Sneijder in based on names, not performances and tactically they sat back and left the two upfront with absolutely no support, as such they barely got a touch(woeful delivery from Kuyt, same cross over and over and over, straight out almost every time, or passing from edge of box to the half way line for no reason killing every attack in one of those two ways.

Holland afforded Messi too much respect and they've played better when they aren't favourites, too. Not a great set of players though really.
