Bit like Barca Spains brand of football has been found out, they've had a hell of a run but looks like this team in its current form is coming to an end.
Still got plenty of quality to come back as a major force but need some fresh ideas.

De Gea is out of the wc.
i think the problem is that they have abandoned tiki taka. They are trying to play more directly and they look awful.
They should go back to what they know even if it is stultifyingly dull.
They have abandoned it because it doesn't work anymore. They have 60-70% of the possession and get absolutely pasted by teams well set up to attack on the counter. It worked for a while because teams didn't know how to counter it. They do now.
Spain are not bored of tiki taka, they just know that its not the way to win anymore.
Against most teams it will work; only against really exceptional teams will they lose on the counter attack. They have replaced something that worked most of the time with something that hasn't worked at all.
They got pasted by the Dutch without even trying tiki taka.

You will win very little if you can only beat most teams and come unstuck against exceptional teams.

From what I have seen of Costa he is a very dirty player. Not hot headed just nasty.
