FIFA World Cup 2018 - 3rd/4th Place Play-off [14 July] **spoilers**

There are promising signs for the future for England. RLC, Lingard and Rashford will all improve going forward, as will Maguire at the back. The one thing we're really lacking is that creative influence in midfield, which hopefully one of the youngsters will develop to provide.

I'm feeling optimistic about 2020

Most of the haters didn't give them a chance vs Columbia let alone the rest.

A game that really should have been won in normal time. Great to get a deserved win with those pens mind :)
 
The future is looking bright. There are some incredibly talented youngsters coming through who will be pushing for a place in 2020/2022.

Just from Arsenal you're looking at AMN, Nelson and Willock, let alone all the up and coming players from other clubs I don't know so much about

Yep all very promising and very unlucky with this young team of not getting to a final and who knows then.

Second half vs Belgium did everything but score.

A few were saying earlier that we were going to be turned over lol!
 
There are encouraging signs for 2020 and beyond, but at the same time I can't imagine that the likes of Germany, Spain, etc will be as bad again. The other problem is that we've overachieved considering that we came into the tournament with low expectations. That won't be the case at Euro 2020 and the World Cup in 2022, expectations will be higher for those tournaments, so if things don't go our way this team could get a bit of a battering from fans and the media. It's nice to be positive, optimistic and all that, we just need to temper it a bit and not get too carried away.
 
We're not 'haters' just realists, performances never warranted the amount of hype created this tournament, it was mostly because of our somewhat easy route to the final.

So did Japan in the last 16 and Brazil in the quarters, thankfully we didn't face them earlier.
