A lot of that is purely down to strategy - they are outclassed in terms of individual football ability but working with their weaknesses to close down a lot of the pitch. Not that I want to see it but IMO if they started playing a bit more dirty and harder tackles, etc. on players like Messi they'd probably reduce Argentina to playing very warily and ineffective.

Argentina are chumps.

They seem to be following exactly the same pattern every time they get the ball. Caballero plays it out to a CB, the CB passes it to Mascherano and Mascherano passes it to Messi if he drops deep or loses possession if he doesn't. There's absolutely zero link between the defence and attack most of the time and it's no wonder they struggled so much during qualifying play this style of football.
