well that was against very poor opposition. when the team your playing against is terrible you are going to look great. they did play nicely and free. was that because of the talent or...bad opposition to let them play so freely.

I am really concerned by our lack of chances created. Lindgard, Alli and Sterling aren't cutting it for me. They were all pretty disappointing yet again last night. Also, Dier has been atrocious this world cup, he's making Hendo look quality which is quite impressive! I think we need to have a little mix up, get Loftus-Cheek and Rashford on and see how they get on. Defensively i'm pretty happy it's just the 3 behind Kane which isn't working.

Lingard is the only one of those with any movement, though. The other two have been gash and should be replaced for the next game.

England were lucky, if pickford hadnt left his line before the ball was kicked he may not have saved it.

Rooney retiring has probably played a bigger part, when in midfield he was always a player for England who looked decent individually but ruined the balance of the team. Southgate is the first manager who doesn't have to shoehorn him into the team to keep the FA happy.

Not having the golden generation including Gerrard and Lampard has a lot to do with it also.

If all goalies are doing it then its kind of fair. I don't think refs should allow keepers to do it but as long as both goalies are held to the same standards then you can't use it as an example.

Southgate was likely only allowed to drop him because he had reached the all time goal scoring record the FA wanted him to get, similar story with United I suspect. Despite him being a bit of a passenger for the last few years it's less embarrassing than having to go back to the 1960's for your top goalscorer.
