FIFA World Cup 2022 Group B ** spoilers ** (England, Iran, USA, Wales)

We need to start Walker. He needs fitness, and we'll need him if we play France. Walker can match Mbappe for speed and athleticism (just about anyway)
I'd like to see Maddison get some game time. On top form, best english midfielder, yet overlooked, because Southgate's a narrow minded idiot.

I can see why Vardy quit international football, going to the World Cup to sit on the bench is a joke.

He hasn't played with any of the players though. Grealish, Foden, Mount all have who are all top players in their own right. Maddison in this world cup is simply a gun hoe option when we are 2-0 down with 15 minutes to go in a quarter final.

In the same way you do not play a player who is not match fit you do not throw a player into a new team either. It is a massive risk as a lot of players need time to gel.

This is nothing against Maddison but MF is hugely important part of what makes a team work well. Less so than throwing a striker on.

Is that why Southgate played Walker, who hadn't played a competitive game in two months over Trent who'd played most games from the start of the season?

In a 26 man squad you'll always have some players who don't play or get minimal minutes. I'm not sure why this is suddenly surprising, it's always been the case. If we'd beaten the US we might have seen them get more mins in the dead game but we didn't. It's a knockout from here, have to put the team before players.

Good point. I do like Trent but Kyles a safer bet (if he's 100%?)
I just watched THAT Japan goal again ... it took 4 mins from goal to restart ... wtf is going on?

What a load of rubbish. There is a reason why England never win anything with this mentality. Let's have players who aren't on form, or not played for their club in months, not match fit, just come back from injury

Hopefully the next England manager builds his team around Foden and Maddison, and isn't afraid to drop Kane.

I'm not sure how you read that from my post mate. This seems to be rather personal to you so maybe take a step back and try and look past your bias.
