I would wager that most players only even see 3 or perhaps 4 world cups in their career if they are very lucky. Sacrificing the good of the team and taking that place away from someone else based on sentimentality seems silly. I know the players probably don't feel the same way as they get older but makes sense to put the team first over personal pride.

i dont disagree at all but i think thats why it happens

Trouble with golden generations is they tend to be clung onto for far too long at the expense of the next generation.

Only real top class players in that Belgium side are De Bruyne and Courtois. Many of the others are past it, blow hot and cold or simply not that good.
